Issue: On certain buses, the mounting of the fuel system and the material for the fuel tank cage may not meet certain requirements of Canadian regulations. As a result, fuel could leak in a crash. Safety Risk: A fuel leak in a crash can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your bus to a DTNA authorized service facility to modify the fuel tank area.

Issue: On certain buses, the fasteners for the rear emergency exit door latch could loosen and detach. If this happens, and the door is pushed, it could open suddenly. Safety Risk: An emergency exit door that opens suddenly could increase the risk of injuries. Corrective Actions: Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development. DTNA recommends that you should contact them immediately if you notice any missing bolts during your daily pre-trip inspection.

Issue: On certain buses, the bolts that attach the brake caliper support (also called a tie bar) on the front axle may not be tightened correctly. As a result, the tie bar could loosen or detach and cause damage to other moving parts. It is also possible that the tie bar was not installed. A missing or loose tie bar could affect braking performance. Note: This recall only affects buses equipped with hydraulic brakes. Safety Risk: Reduced brake performance can increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your bus to a DTNA authorized service facility to inspect both steer axle wheel ends. The mounting bolts for the brake caliper tie bar will be tightened. If the tie bar is missing, the caliper anchor mounts and brake function will be inspected, and the missing tie bar installed.

Issue: On certain buses, the outer handle for the roof hatch (emergency exit) could break. If this happens, it would be difficult to open the roof hatch from outside the bus. Safety Risk: An emergency exit that is difficult to open could increase the risk of injury in an emergency. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facility to replace the roof hatch outer handle.

This could result an engine stall without the ability to restart, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks of North America Authorized Service Facilities will modify vehicle wiring to ensure that the power port circuit does not affect the ignition circuit.

If this happens and the operator continues to press the "up" button, the platform could travel past the vehicle floor height, potentially causing a lift occupant to be tipped inwards toward the vehicle, which could increase the risk of injury. Correction: a Ricon authorized dealer will perform the repairs.

Correction: Daimler Trucks of North America Service Facilities will inspect seats and install an additional wall bracket between the wall rail and the seat as necessary.

Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. On certain buses, the stem which joins the outside emergency door handle to the emergency door opening mechanism may potentially corrode. Excessive material loss of the stem due to corrosion could result in the outside handle separating from the door mechanism while trying to open the door from the exterior of the bus. In the event of an emergency, this could delay evacuation of the vehicle and increase the risk of injury to occupants. Correction: Dealers will inspect the stems and either replace or protect them agianst further corrosion.

The Daytime Running Lights (DRL) may not illuminate when the master lighting switch is set to the parking lamps position. Correction: Dealers will update the DRL configuration on affected vehicles.

Correction: Carrier will provide a retrofit kit along with installation instructions.

On certain vehicles, the weld around the steering shaft tube, which joins the splined tube to the non-splined intermediate tube, may be mislocated. An improperly located weld bead may allow the splined tube and non-splined tube to rotate relative one another during a low speed, high torque turn, resulting in a possible separation of the tubes. This could cause a loss of steering control which could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering shaft.
