    Issue: On certain trucks, the fasteners that attach the steer arm to the steering knuckle may fail. If this happens, the steer arm could separate from the steering knuckle and cause a loss of steering control. Note: This recall only affects trucks equipped with a Dana D-series steer axle. Safety Risk: A loss of steering control could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: PACCAR will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

    Issue: On certain trucks, the warning light for the tractor anti-lock brake system (ABS) may not turn on if the system loses power. If this happens, the driver will not get warning that the ABS is not working properly. Note: This problem would also cause the traction control (TC) and electronic stability control (ESC) lights not to turn on. Safety Risk: If a driver is not warned that the ABS is not working properly, there could be an increased risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: PACCAR will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to update the software for the cab control module (CECU).

Correction: Dealers will recalibrate the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

    On certain trucks built with a Cummins X15 or ISX15 engine equipped with nylon fuel lines and a banjo bolt on the fuel pump, a blockage in the fuel cooling system may cause a fuel line to burst. This could result in a significant fuel leak onto the roadway, which would create a road hazard for other motorists. Additionally, this condition could also cause an engine stall without warning, without the ability to restart the engine. Both of these conditions may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Cummins-authorized dealers will replace the affected nylon line with a steel line.

A failure to notify the operator of a serious engine problem may result in an engine failure without warning, and loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will inspect and/or test the engine harness for the missing circuits, and if found missing, an overlay jumper harness will be installed.

    Certain vehicles may fail to conform to the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 121 - Air Brake Systems and CMVSS 136 - Electronic Stability Control Systems for Heavy Vehicles. In the event that the anti-lock brake system (ABS) loses battery and/or ignition power to the controller, the ABS indicator lamp may not illuminate to warn the driver of the loss of ABS, which is contrary to the requirements of the standards. This could result in the loss of ABS function with no warning to the driver, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the cab control module.

This could cause the tie rod to become loose in the steer axle, which would result in audible noise and/or looseness in steering. If the vehicle were continued to be operated in this condition, the tie rod could disconnect from the knuckle, resulting in a complete loss of control of a vehicle wheel, which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the torque of the castellated nuts on the tie rod, and replace the tie rod stud and knuckle as necessary.

Correction: Dealers will replace the ECM.

    Certain vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121 - Air Brake Systems. The two service brake connections of the SR-7 spring brake valve assembly that provide the valve with feedback from the primary and secondary service brake applications may have been reversed during installation. Although the SR-7 valve would still function properly if there were normal reservoir pressure, in the event of a failure in the primary or secondary circuit, the redundant circuit would not provide adequate service brake functionality, and the vehicle would fail to meet the emergency brake system performance standard. This could result in reduced braking performance which could result in a vehicle crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect, remove and reconnect the air lines to the correct port of the SR-7 valve.

    Certain vehicles equipped with HID headlamps may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. A Daytime Running Lamp (DRL) that is optically combined with a turn signal lamp must switch off when the turn signal lamp is switched on as a hazard warning signal. In the affected vehicles, the DRL overrides the hazard flashing functionality after the service brake is applied for more than 2 seconds, which is contrary to the standard. The hazard functionality returns to normal when the application of the service brake is removed. Turn signal functionality would not impacted. Failure to warn oncoming vehicles with flashing hazard lamps could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update vehicle software.

This internal corrosion could form a conductive salt bridge which could result in a short circuit, causing the wiper system to fail. Loss of windshield wiping capability, should it occur during a rainy/snowy day, may compromise the driver's ability to see the road and its users, and a short circuit could increase the risk of fire, which could result in injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install a shield over the wiper motor to protect it from water intrusions and prevent corrosion.

Correction: Dealers will rotate the alternator cable end 180 degrees to provide necessary clearance and reattach the cable to the alternator.

This could cause interference with the suspension bracket and U-bolts as the outermost brake pads wear and the floating caliper moves inboard. As this interference gets larger, it prohibits the movement of the floating caliper, subsequently reducing the outer pad's pressure on the disc which can eventually lead to reduced braking performance and increasing the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace one drive axle brake caliper.

Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering shaft.

    On certain trucks, the retaining pins securing the hood strut tube to the hood strut assembly may become loose and fall out, allowing the lock tube to rotate on the strut assembly. In its normal operation, the safety latch feature is automatically set and prevents the hood from closing. If the retaining pins are missing, the lock tube may rotate relative to the hood strut and become a non-operational safety latch feature. A non-operational safety latch may not be detected by an operator, increasing the risk of personal injury and/or vehicle damage should the hood unexpectedly close. Correction: Dealers will replace the pivot disc and lock tube retaining pins with a revised pivot disc and cap screws.

Correction: Dealers will replace bearings, seals, and add oil to the outer end hubs. Races and axle housing will be inspected and replaced as necessary.

Correction: Dealers will inspect fasteners, replace if necessary and torque them to specifications.

This could allow the u-bolts to loosen over time, which may cause vibration in the rear suspension. If multiple fasteners were to become loose, the U-bolt holding the axle may lose clamp load and the rear axle may shift relative to the rear suspension drive beam, which might result in a crash causing personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will tighten the axle u-bolts.
