  Issue: On certain vehicles, moisture could enter the driver-side door lock microswitch and cause it to corrode. As a result, the microswitch may fail to automatically engage the parking brake and/or the auto park feature when the door is opened. If this happens, the vehicle could roll away. Note: This problem could also cause the radio and/or interior lights to remain on after exiting the vehicle. Safety Risk: A parked vehicle that rolls away could create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Mercedes-Benz recommends that you should always use the parking brake when you park. Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the driver-side door lock.

  Issue: On certain vehicles, the plastic panel located between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof may not have been attached correctly during a prior service repair. Over time, the panel could loosen and separate from the vehicle. Note: This is an expansion of Transport Canada recall 2021-170. Safety Risk: A panel that detaches from a moving vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the front roof panel.

If this happens, the eCall system would not work properly when there is a crash or when the SOS button is pressed. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and send a wireless over-the-air software update to each vehicle. If the update cannot be completed successfully, you will be notified to schedule an appointment to have the update performed by a dealer.

This recall only affects vehicles that were originally sold or ever registered in areas of heavy road salt usage (Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador). Safety Risk: A loss of power steering assist would result in a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low vehicle speeds. This could increase the risk of a crash.   Issue: On certain vehicles, the screws holding the engine bay fuse box could become loose over time. If this happens, the fuse box could vibrate excessively, which could damage the fuses inside. Damaged fuses could cause certain vehicle functions to stop working without warning. As a result, the engine could turn off, there could be a loss of power steering assist, and/or the ESP and active brake assist systems could turn off. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of engine power, power steering assist, ESP system and/or active brake assist could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect and tighten the screws holding the fuse box, if necessary.

As a result, the brake system malfunction indicator lamp ("BRAKE") might be displayed instead of the required indicator lamp ("(!)"). Canadian regulations require the use of a symbol, instead of text. Safety Risk: This small error does not affect the function of the brake system or the accuracy of the information displayed. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. Mercedes Benz has made changes to ensure that all new vehicles display the correct brake system malfunction indicator symbol.

  Issue: On certain vehicles, the middle-rear seat belt may not be properly attached to the vehicle body. As a result the seat belt could detach immediately when used, making the middle seating position unavailable. In the unlikely chance that a person did not notice the seat belt was loose, it may come loose while driving or in a crash. Safety Risk: A seat belt that is not properly attached could create an increased risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect the middle-rear seat belt. If the seat belt is not properly attached, it will be reinstalled correctly.
