  Issue: On certain vehicles, moisture could enter the driver-side door lock microswitch and cause it to corrode. As a result, the microswitch may fail to automatically engage the parking brake and/or the auto park feature when the door is opened. If this happens, the vehicle could roll away. Note: This problem could also cause the radio and/or interior lights to remain on after exiting the vehicle. Safety Risk: A parked vehicle that rolls away could create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Mercedes-Benz recommends that you should always use the parking brake when you park. Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the driver-side door lock.

Correction: Dealers will check the bonding of the panoramic sliding sunroof and the electrical contacts of the curtain airbags, and repair as necessary. Note: This condition may result in the illumination of an airbag warning light in the instrument cluster.

In some instances, inadvertent deployment could cause minor injuries to vehicle occupants. Correction: Dealers will add sufficient grounding to the steering components. Note: A broken clock spring would result in a driver airbag warning message appearing in the instrument cluster, as well as a red airbag warning lamp illuminating.

In the event the starter is blocked, a very high electric current could flow through the starting current limiter during repeated engine starting attempts. Correction : Dealers will install an additional fuse in the electrical line to the starter.

  On certain vehicles, fuses in the passenger side interior fuse box might have been installed incorrectly during assembly. This could result in one or more fuses losing electrical contact, which could affect different system functions, such as front passenger seat occupancy recognition, passenger side airbag indicator lamp, the instrument cluster and the windshield wipers. Should the front passenger seat occupancy recognition system be disabled, and the passenger side airbag indicator lamp be affected, there would be no visual warning that the passenger frontal airbag is not operating correctly. Failure of the passenger frontal airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Also, instrument cluster and windshield wiper malfunction could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect the installation position and orientation of the fuses in the passenger side interior fuse box, and replace the fuse box if necessary.
