  Issue: On certain trucks, poor signal strength could cause the electronic control unit (ECU) to stop working or not to work properly. As a result, some safety systems may not work, including the antilock braking system, automatic traction control, electronic stability control, active cruise control and the collision mitigation system. Note: This recall is an expansion of Transport Canada recall no. 2024-655. Safety Risks: Vehicle safety systems that don't work correctly could increase the risk of a crash.   Issue: On certain trucks, the right-side (passenger-side) windshield wiper arm could separate from the wiper motor. If this happens, the windshield wiper may not work. Note: For the MV model, this recall affects both MV and eMV models. Safety Risk: Windshield wipers that don't work could reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: International Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to replace the windshield wiper module.

The dealer will also install a quick release valve, if necessary.

  Issue: On a small number of trucks, when the parking switch is pulled on the dashboard, the park valve module may stick in the un-parked position. If this happens the parking brake would not apply, and the truck could move suddenly. Note: This recall only affects trucks equipped with a Bendix Intellipark electronic parking brake. Safety Risk: Sudden and unexpected movement of the truck could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Navistar will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

  Issue: Over time, the mounting brackets for the front grille surround (trim) could loosen or detach. If this happens, the grille surround could detach from the vehicle. Safety Risk: A grille surround that separates from the vehicle could create a hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Navistar will notify owners by mail and advise you to inspect the grille surround periodically, and repair it if necessary. Navistar will send you a second notice when the replacement parts are available, and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the grille surround assembly.

  Issue: On certain vehicles, the lock nuts for multiple front and rear suspension and steering parts may not have been manufactured correctly. As a result, the nut(s) could loosen. If this happens, there could be a sudden change in vehicle stability and/or a loss of steering control. Safety Risk: A loss of steering could create the risk of a crash. A sudden change in vehicle stability could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Navistar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the affected hex flange lock nuts.

  Issue: On certain trucks, the tie rod end clamps could crack and loosen. If this happens, the threads on the tie rod end could become damaged and the tie rod end could separate. This could cause a loss of steering control on one wheel. Safety Risk: A loss of steering control could create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Navistar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealership to replace both tie rod end clamps.

  Issue: On certain trucks, the connecting rod bushings could fail due to a manufacturing defect. This could cause an engine failure that can result in a sudden loss of power with an inability to restart. Note: This is an expansion of recall 21505 (Transport Canada Recall 2021-240). Safety Risk: A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a stalled vehicle could also increase the risk of crash. Corrective Actions: Navistar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer install a detection system to warn a driver if there is a problem with the connecting rod bushing. The system will cause a red engine warning light to turn on if a problem is detected, before a connecting rod failure happens. Engines found with a suspect connecting rod will be repaired.

  Issue: On certain trucks, the welds that attach the trailer hitch may crack due to improper welding. As a result, the hitch could detach from the truck while towing a trailer. Note: This recall only affects certain trucks with trailer hitches installed by Commercial Truck Equipment. Safety Risk: A trailer that detaches from a truck could create a risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Commercial Truck Equipment will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect the trailer hitch and repair or replace it, as necessary. You should stop using the trailer hitch until the inspection and repair have been completed.

  Issue: On certain trucks, the connections inside the brake switch could break. UPDATE – When Navistar notified Transport Canada about this problem, they believed that it may cause the brake lights not to work properly. After further investigation, Navistar has determined that this problem will cause the ABS light to turn on, however the brake lights will continue to function. Accordingly, this safety recall was withdrawn. Safety Risk: This problem does not pose a safety risk. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. This notice is for information only. If the ABS light on your truck turns on, you should contact a local International truck repair facility to have it repaired.

  On certain vehicles equipped with an electronic clutch actuator (ECA), the clutch may have been manufactured improperly and could fail. If this occurs, the broken clutch components could prevent the transmission from disengaging or shifting to neutral. This could result in unintended vehicle movement, even if the parking brake is applied, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will recalibrate the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

This could result in an internal air leak or a complete separation of the parking brake from the service brake chamber, either of which would cause a loss of braking on the affected wheel assembly. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace affected brake chamber assemblies.

  On certain trucks built with a Cummins X15 or ISX15 engine equipped with nylon fuel lines and a banjo bolt on the fuel pump, a blockage in the fuel cooling system may cause a fuel line to burst. This could result in a significant fuel leak onto the roadway, which would create a road hazard for other motorists. Additionally, this condition could also cause an engine stall without warning, without the ability to restart the engine. Both of these conditions may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Cummins-authorized dealers will replace the affected nylon line with a steel line.

  On certain commercial trucks, a fuel line could contact the air compressor discharge line. Heat from the compressor discharge line could damage the fuel line, causing a fuel leak which, in the presence of an ignition source, could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the straight fitting on the air compressor outlet with a 45 degree fitting and install a redesigned air compressor discharge line.

  On certain trucks equipped with an Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Protection (ESP), the air supply line to the roll stability valve may been plumbed to the incorrect port. This could cause the parking brakes to be modulated unintentionally during a stability control oversteer event, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will reroute the roll stability valve supply line and connect it to the appropriate port.

  On certain vehicles equipped with Cummins ISX 15 engines and certain fuel pumps, the drive gear on the fuel pump may spin loose on the drive shaft. This could result in a loss of pumping function, which could result in an engine stall without warning and not being able to be restarted, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Cummins-authorized dealers will replace the fuel pump.

  On certain vehicles, the Engine Control Module (ECM) may develop an internal electrical short circuit that could blow a fuse in the ECM's electrical supply circuit. This could cause the engine to stall without warning and prevent the vehicle from being restarted. Engine stalling without warning would result in lost propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the ECM.
