Safety Risk: A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a stalled vehicle could also increase the risk of crash. Corrective Actions: Navistar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer install a detection system to warn a driver if there is a problem with the connecting rod bushing. The system will cause a red engine warning light to turn on if a problem is detected, before a connecting rod failure happens. Engines found with a suspect connecting rod will be repaired.

Any wheel end components and spindles that are found damaged will be replaced.

This could also cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Cummins will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a Cummins authorized service center to disable the fuel heater. The fuel heater will be replaced by installing a plug in its place. Additionally, the fuse supplying electrical power to the fuel heater will be removed and a cover will also be installed over the wire harness connector.
