Issue: On certain fire trucks, an engine crossmember may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the crossmember could break and the engine cooling fan could become damaged. If this happens, the engine could overheat and cause a loss of power to the wheels. This could also result in the truck not being able to pump water. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a fire pump that doesn't work could cause a lack of water pressure for fighting fires. This could delay emergency response and increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: E-ONE will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to add braces to strengthen the crossmember. If the crossmember is damaged, it will be replaced.

Issue: On a small number of fire trucks, the tie rod end bracket on the steering assist cylinder may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, this could cause a reduction of steering assist and/or the steering may make clunking noises. This can cause a change in steering feel and an increase in steering effort. Safety Risk: A change in steering effort could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: E-ONE will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect the steering assist bracket and, if necessary, replace it.

As a result, the unit and/or wiring could overheat and melt. Safety Risk: A power distribution unit and/or wiring that overheats and melts could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: E-ONE will notify owners by mail and advise you to contact Weldon to update the Weldon power distribution unit software.

Under certain conditions, this could allow lowering of the aerial device when it should not be lowered. As a result, the truck could tip on its side. Corrective Actions: E-ONE will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions to either replace the sensors or provide a software update for the existing sensors.

This could cause some vehicle systems not to work properly, including the headlamps and taillamps. Safety Risk: A loss of lighting could cause reduced visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: E-One will contact the owner and provide a replacement electrical multiplex module and instructions for how to install it.

E-One Incorporated (E-One) is recalling certain 2021-2023 ARFF, Cyclone N, 2020-2024 Commercial, 2020, 2022-2023 Cyclone 2, 2023 Cyclone E, 2022 Typhoon, and 2020-2023 Typhoon N vehicles. In the event of a short circuit or wiring failure, the firmware in the vehicle multiplex system may fail to shut off the output pin, resulting in overloaded electrical circuits.
Risk: Overloaded electrical circuits can overheat, increasing the risk of fire.
Remedy: The equipment manufacturer, Weldon, will update the firmware, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 24, 2024. Owners may contact E-One customer service at 1-352-237-1122.
