Issue: On certain school buses, the nuts that secure the all-weather windshield wipers may not have been tightened correctly. As a result, the windshield wipers may not work properly or could detach. Safety Risk: Windshield wipers that don't work properly could affect a driver's visibility. Windshield wiper(s) that detach from the vehicle could create a road hazard for others. Both issues could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Blue Bird will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to inspect and correctly tighten the nuts between the blades and mounting arms. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the inspection and repairs performed at a Blue Bird dealership.

Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the inspection and repairs performed at a Blue Bird dealership.

Issue: On certain school buses equipped with air brakes, the air pressure gauges and low pressure warnings may not work. As a result, a driver may not get a warning if there is a loss of brake air pressure. Safety Risk: A driver who is unaware of low air pressure in the brake system could have an increased risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Blue Bird will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your bus to a dealership to update the instrument cluster software.

Issue: On a small number of school buses, the fuel rail assembly could develop a leak. Note: This recall only affects school buses equipped with a Cummins L9 or ISX12 diesel engine. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Cummins will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your school bus to a Cummins authorized service center to inspect the fuel rail. If damage is found, the fuel rail and fuel lines will be replaced. If no damage is found, the fuel rail will be reassembled with new crush washers using a special tool.

As a result, there could be an air pressure leak if there is a secondary brake circuit failure. This could cause the parking brakes to apply suddenly. Note: This recall only affects school buses built with a Bendix air brake system. Safety Risk: A parking brake that self-applies while driving could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Blue Bird will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your bus to a dealer to inspect, and if necessary, replace the SC-3 check valve.

If any parts are missing, new hardware must be installed according to the recall instructions.

Safety Risk: A ceiling joint that separates in a crash could create a risk of injury to bus passengers. Corrective Actions: The company will notify all owners by mail and provide them with directions for how to have the roof inspected and repaired, as necessary. Part of the inspection will include counting the number of rivets used to mount the roof panels. Any 8 inch roof section that is found to have less than 6 rivets will require repair. Owners with further questions should contact their local dealer.

Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to an authorized repair facility to replace the left-rear brake caliper.
