Safety Risk: A seat that moves or detaches could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Blue Bird will notify owners by mail and provide you with parts and instructions for how to inspect and install the seats correctly. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the inspection and repairs performed at a Blue Bird dealership.

Issue: Certain school bus seats with integrated 3-point seat belts may not have been installed correctly. On these buses, the reinforcement washers may be missing under the floor. As a result, the seats could move in a crash. Safety Risk: Seats that are not installed correctly could create an increased risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Blue Bird will notify owners by mail and provide instructions for how to inspect the bus to ensure the seats are installed correctly. If any parts are missing, new hardware must be installed according to the recall instructions.

Issue: On certain school buses, the parking brake may not have been adjusted correctly. As a result, it may not hold the bus when parked. Under certain conditions, like while parked on an incline, this could allow the bus to roll away. Safety Risk: A parked bus that moves unexpectedly could increase the risk injury and/or a crash. Corrective Actions: You should park the bus on a level surface and properly chock the wheels until the parking brake assembly has been inspected. Blue Bird will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to an authorized repair facility to have the parking brake assembly inspected and adjusted, as necessary.

Issue: Certain school bus seats may not have the tether anchorage point required for installing a child seat. Safety Risk: A child seat that is not properly installed could create an increased risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be sent the missing anchorage parts and instructions for their installation.

Issue: Certain school buses do not meet the joint strength requirements of the Canadian regulations. In a crash, the ceiling joint could separate. Safety Risk: A ceiling joint that separates in a crash could create a risk of injury to bus passengers. Corrective Actions: The company will notify all owners by mail and provide them with directions for how to have the roof inspected and repaired, as necessary. Part of the inspection will include counting the number of rivets used to mount the roof panels. Any 8 inch roof section that is found to have less than 6 rivets will require repair. Owners with further questions should contact their local dealer.
