    Issue: On certain motorhomes, the front turn signal lights may be too small. As a result, the turn signals could be difficult to see, and the motorhomes may not meet certain requirements of Canadian regulations. Safety Risk: Turn signals that are difficult to see could cause a person not to recognize when a driver intends to turn or change lanes. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Winnebago will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorhome to a dealership to replace the front turn signal lights.

  • Steering#2019286

    Issue: On certain motorhomes built on a Freightliner XBR chassis, a power steering hose may touch the power stud on the starter motor. This could cause a short circuit and may also cause a power steering fluid leak. This may result in loss of power steering assist. Safety Risk: A power steering fluid leak in the presence of an electrical arc could create the risk of a fire. Additionally, a sudden loss of power assist could make the vehicle difficult to steer and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their motorhome to a DTNA authorized service facility to reroute the power steering hose to ensure it has proper clearance.

    Issue: On certain motorhomes equipped with an adjustable brake pedal, the brake lights could stay on when the brakes are released. If a vehicle is being towed, this could also cause the towed vehicle brakes to stay applied. Safety Risk: If the brake lights stay on, a following driver may not recognize when the vehicle ahead is braking. Additionally, if the brakes of a towed vehicle stay applied, it could result in a loss of control. Both of these situations could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their motorhome to a DTNA authorized service facility to replace the torsion spring in the brake pedal assembly.

    Issue: On certain motorhomes equipped with V-Ride rear suspension, the mounting bolts for the rear axle may not be properly tightened. This could cause the track bar, which maintains the position of the rear axle, to detach. Safety Risk: A track bar that detaches could affect vehicle handling and stability, increasing the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks of North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their motorhome to an authorized DTNA Service Facility to ensure the rear axle mounting bolts are properly tightened.

    On certain motorhomes, the auxiliary solar charging port may have been installed without proper circuit protection (a fuse). If solar panels are connected through the solar charging port and they exceed the amperage capacity of the circuit, there may be an increased risk of a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install an inline fuse to the auxiliary solar charging port circuit.

This could cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will replace the throttle pedal.

    On certain motorhomes equipped with a heavier weight adjustable offset foot pedal, the brake activation signal to the motorhome’s brake lights and to certain towed devices may not deactivate when the motorhome service brakes are released. This may cause the motorhome brake lights to potentially remain illuminated, which would result in the following road users being unaware of the driver's intentions. Additionally, if the brakes of a towed vehicle were to remained engaged, it could result in a loss of vehicle control. Both of these conditions could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will replace the torsion spring of the pedal assembly with an improved spring.

A propane leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the high pressure liquid propane (LP) hose(s).

    On certain vehicles, the connector for the brake and cruise control signal diode jumper assembly may come loose, resulting in a possible intermittent or continuously open circuit. Two circuits are potentially affected. One circuit disengages the cruise control with brake pedal application, and the other circuit illuminates the brake lights with brake application. Failure of the cruise control to disengage, or of the brake lights to illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed, could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will verify that the locking tabs on the diode jumper assembly connector are fully engaged and locked into place.

    On certain motorhomes equipped with a Cummins engine, the V-band clamps used to connect the inlet and outlet cone sections to the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) / Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) include a T-bolt which can fracture and fail when subjected to stress or load. A fracture or failure of the T-bolt may cause the clamp to loosen and the inlet or outlet sections attached to the DOC/DPF housing to disconnect. Should this occur, hot exhaust gases can vent prior to exiting the tailpipe, creating a risk of combustion or damage to adjacent materials, which could result in a vehicle fire. If both clamps fail, the DOC/DPF housing could detach completely, separate from the vehicle, and strike another vehicle, stationary object, or bystander. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Cummins will install updated V-band clamps.

  • Fuel System#2011106

    On certain motorhomes, a Liquid Propane (LP) hose connection may be damaged or disconnected when the slideout room is operated. A propane gas leak, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire or an explosion, which could cause property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the LP hose. Additionally, the pipe clamp will be relocated and a second clamp will be added to ensure clearance is maintained during slideroom operation.

    On certain motorhomes, the Vehicle Certification Label may not contain correct tire load range information. The labels incorrectly list the tire and load range as 27580R22.5G, but instead should read 27580R22.5H. As a result, the vehicle may inadvertently be fitted with incorrect replacement tires. Overloaded tires may lead to poor vehicle handling characteristics, which could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Updated labels will be mailed to owners of affected vehicles, along with instructions for proper installation.

    Certain refrigerators used in Recreational Vehicles (RVs) contain either a sensing algorithm or a thermal switch to interrupt power when it detects high temperatures that could lead to a fire. An insufficient response time can result in the power not being shut-off in sufficient time to prevent a fire, which could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install a thermocouple with a faster response time for all refrigerators with a sensing algorithm or a thermal switch.
