  Issue: On certain trucks, the pass-through power stud (an electrical connection located on the bulkhead) may come into contact with the bulkhead. If this happens, there could be electrical arcing (sparks). Note: This recall replaces FL-766 (Transport Canada Recall 2018-190). If your truck was inspected as a part of that recall, but the pass-through power stud was not replaced, your truck requires this repair. Safety Risk: Electrical arcing could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a DTNA authorized service facility to replace the pass-through power stud.

  Issue: On certain trucks equipped with an Eaton automated manual transmission and electronic clutch actuator (ECA), a component within the clutch assembly could fail. If this happens, the broken clutch components could prevent the transmission from disengaging or shifting to neutral. This could result in unintended vehicle movement, even if the parking brake is applied. Note: This recall replaces FL-803 (Transport Canada recall 2018-714). Trucks that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety Risk: Sudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could create a risk of injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a DTNA authorized service facility to replace the clutch and update the transmission software.

  Issue: On certain trucks, the strut-rod for the sleeper cab vent windows may not be properly attached. This could cause the vent window to over rotate and detach from the vehicle. Safety Risk: A window that separates from a moving vehicle could create a hazard for other drivers and nearby people. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a Daimler Trucks of North America authorized service facility to replace the vent windows.

  Issue: On certain trucks, the baggage and/or sleeper side doors may not be properly attached to their hinges. This could cause the door(s) to detach while driving. Safety Risk: A baggage and/or sleeper side door that falls from the truck could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a DTNA authorized service facility to install two reinforcement clips on each baggage and sleeper door hinge.

On certain vehicles equipped with an Eaton automated manual transmission and electronic clutch actuator (ECA), an internal component within the clutch assembly may have been manufactured improperly and could fail. If this occurs, the broken clutch components could prevent the transmission from disengaging or shifting to neutral. This could result in unintended vehicle movement, even if the parking brake is applied, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks of North America Authorized Service Facilities will recalibrate the Transmission Control Module (TCM) and replace components as necessary.

Correction: Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will repair the brake light pressure switch.

  On certain vehicles, certain tow hooks that are used for recovery purposes may have been incorrectly manufactured and may not meet material strength specifications. If the tow hook were to fail during towing or a recovery operation, a sudden release of the vehicle without warning could occur, increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will inspect tow hooks for a certain manufacture date code, and replace if needed.

  Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Western Star 4700, 4900, 5700, and 6900 trucks. The affected trucks have a power stud that passes through the bulkhead. In certain circumstances, the power stud may contact the bulkhead and result in an electrical arc.

  Risk: An electrical arc can increase the risk of a fire.

  Remedy: Dealers will replace the pass-through power studs, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 7, 2022. This recall supersedes previous recall number 18V-191. Vehicles previously inspected and considered complete under 18V-191 will need to return for the new remedy. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. An internal component within the clutch assembly may fail, which in certain circumstances could allow the vehicle to move unexpectedly.

  Risk: Unintended vehicle movement van increase the risk of a crash.

  Remedy: DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will update the software and replace the clutches, free of charge. DTNA issued owners an interim notification on December 7, 2020.   Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2016-2020 Western Star 4900 and 5700 vehicles equipped with sleeper cab vent windows. Due to improper adhesive, the vent window may detach from the vehicle.

  Risk: If the vent window detaches while the vehicle is in motion, it can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

  Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2017-2020 Western Star 4900 and 5700 vehicles. The adhesive bond may fail allowing the baggage or sleeper side door to separate from the hinges.

  Risk: A baggage or sleeper side door that separates from the vehicle while in motion can cause road debris, increasing the risk of an injury or crash.

  Remedy: DTNA will notify owners and dealers will install reinforcement clips with mechanical fasteners on each baggage and sleeper door hinge, free of charge. DTNA issued owners an interim notification on December 6, 2019. The recall began September 21, 2020. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712.   Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Freightliner 114SD, 122SD, 108SD, Cascadia and Business class M2 trucks, Freightliner Custom Chassis XBS, XCL, XCM, MT45, MT55, S2G, S2RV, XCR and XCS custom chassis and Western Star 4700, 4900 and 5700 trucks equipped with Detroit Axle axles. The affected vehicles may have loose steering and tie rod arm bolts.

  Risk: Loose tie rod arm bolts may lead to separation of the tie rod arm, resulting in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

  Remedy: DTNA has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the steering arm and tie rod arm bolts for to make sure that they are properly tightened, installing new fasteners as necessary, free of charge. An internal component in the clutch assembly may fail, possibly resulting in unintended vehicle movement.

  Risk: Unintended vehicle movement can increase the risk of a crash.

  Remedy: DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will update the software, and repair any physical components, free of charge. DTNA issued owners an interim notification on February 16, 2019.   Risk: Loose brake caliper mounting bolts can reduce brake effectiveness, increasing the risk of a crash.

The brake caliper mounting bolts on these vehicles may be insufficiently tightened, allowing the bolts to loosen.

  Risk: If the brake caliper mounting bolts loosen, braking performance may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.

  Remedy: DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake caliper mounting bolts and tighten them as necessary, free of charge.   Risk: An electrical arc can increase the risk of a fire.

  Remedy: DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the power stud for the proper clearance to the bulkhead, and replace it if necessary, free of charge.   Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2008-2018 Freightliner Cascadia, Western Star 4700, 4900, 5700, and 6900 trucks. After hard brake applications, the brake light pressure switch may not activate the brake lights with a light application of the brake pedal.

  Risk: If the brake lights fail to illuminate, there would not be a signal to other motorists that the vehicle is slowing, increasing the risk of a crash.

  Risk: If the tow hook fails without warning during a recovery operation, the sudden release of the vehicle may increase the risk of injury.

  Remedy: DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicle's tow hooks and, depending on their production date codes, will replace them, free of charge.
