  Issue: On certain trucks, the pass-through power stud (an electrical connection located on the bulkhead) may come into contact with the bulkhead. If this happens, there could be electrical arcing (sparks). Note: This recall replaces FL-766 (Transport Canada Recall 2018-190). If your truck was inspected as a part of that recall, but the pass-through power stud was not replaced, your truck requires this repair. Safety Risk: Electrical arcing could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a DTNA authorized service facility to replace the pass-through power stud.

  Issue: On certain vehicles, the fuel rail assembly could develop a leak. Note: This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a Cummins L9 or ISX12 diesel engine. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Cummins will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a Cummins authorized service center to inspect the fuel rail. If damage is found, the fuel rail and fuel lines will be replaced. If no damage is found, the fuel rail will be reassembled with new crush washers using a special tool.

  Issue: On certain trucks, the welds that attach the trailer hitch may crack due to improper welding. As a result, the hitch could detach from the truck while towing a trailer. Note: This recall only affects certain trucks with trailer hitches installed by Commercial Truck Equipment. Safety Risk: A trailer that detaches from a truck could create a risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Commercial Truck Equipment will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect the trailer hitch and repair or replace it, as necessary. You should stop using the trailer hitch until the inspection and repair have been completed.

If this happens, the broken clutch components could prevent the transmission from disengaging or shifting to neutral. This could result in unintended vehicle movement, even if the parking brake is applied. Note: This recall replaces FL-803 (Transport Canada recall 2018-714). Trucks that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety Risk: Sudden and unexpected movement of the vehicle could create a risk of injury or a crash.   Issue: On certain trucks equipped with electronic stability control (ESC), the brake lights may turn on when the automatic traction control (ATC) activates. Canadian regulations do not allow brake lights to turn on when the automatic traction control activates. Safety Risk: Brake lights that turn on when a vehicle is not slowing could confuse other drivers. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their truck to a Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facility. The truck will either be reprogrammed or retrofitted so the brake lights do not turn on when the automatic traction control (ATC) activates.

Correction: Daimler Trucks North America Authorized Service Facilities will inspect the steering and tie rod arm bolts to ensure they are torqued correctly and install new fasteners as necessary.

This could result in the caliper bolts loosening, which could lead to the caliper detaching. Insufficiently torqued fasteners may not provide adequate clamping force between the brake caliper and brake anchor plate potentially resulting in reduced brake effectiveness, which would result in increased stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks of North America Service Facilities will inspect the bolts, and repair as necessary.

  Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2012-2021 Freightliner SD 108, Freightliner SD 114, 2016-2020 Freightliner Coronado, 2013 Western Star 6900, 2013-2022 Western Star 4700, Western Star 4900, and 2022 49X vehicles. The tires and rims are not approved and rated for these vehicles from the Tire and Rim Association or tire manufacturer. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 120, "Wheels and Rims-Other Than Passenger Cars."

  Risk: Unapproved tires that are not rated for the vehicle can cause tire performance issues, increasing the risk of a crash.

  Remedy: Dealer will inspect and replace, as necessary, tires and rims, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed January 14, 2022.   Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Western Star 4700, 4900, 5700, and 6900 trucks. The affected trucks have a power stud that passes through the bulkhead. In certain circumstances, the power stud may contact the bulkhead and result in an electrical arc.

  Risk: An electrical arc can increase the risk of a fire.

  Remedy: Dealers will replace the pass-through power studs, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 7, 2022. This recall supersedes previous recall number 18V-191. Vehicles previously inspected and considered complete under 18V-191 will need to return for the new remedy. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712.   Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2018-2021 Freightliner Custom Chass XC Chassis, 108SD, Custom Chass XB Chassis, Business Class M2, 114SD, and Western Star 4700 vehicles. The sealing washer may not seat correctly in the pilot bore holes, allowing the high pressure fuel rail assembly to leak.

  Risk: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

  Risk: Damage to the ground harness may cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

An internal component within the clutch assembly may fail, which in certain circumstances could allow the vehicle to move unexpectedly.

  Risk: Unintended vehicle movement van increase the risk of a crash.

  Remedy: DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will update the software and replace the clutches, free of charge. DTNA issued owners an interim notification on December 7, 2020.   Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Western Star 4700 and 5700 vehicles. A particular wire in the ground harness may be undersized, possibly resulting in a melted connector in the ground circuit harness. If the connector becomes damaged, under certain circumstances, the engine may stall without the ability to restart.

  Risk: An engine stall may increase the risk of a crash.

  Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2019 Western Star 4700 and 4900 trucks. The vehicles are accumulating distance in kilometers, but the odometer display is labeled as being miles. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Control and Displays."

  Risk: The odometer failing to register the correct distance travelled could cause driver confusion, as well as possible incorrect assumptions about driver speed. An incorrect speed assumption may increase the risk of crash.

An internal component in the clutch assembly may fail, possibly resulting in unintended vehicle movement.

  Daimler Trucks North America LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Freightliner 114SD, 122SD, 108SD, Cascadia and Business class M2 trucks, Freightliner Custom Chassis XBS, XCL, XCM, MT45, MT55, S2G, S2RV, XCR and XCS custom chassis and Western Star 4700, 4900 and 5700 trucks equipped with Detroit Axle axles. The affected vehicles may have loose steering and tie rod arm bolts.

  Risk: Loose tie rod arm bolts may lead to separation of the tie rod arm, resulting in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

  Remedy: DTNA has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the steering arm and tie rod arm bolts for to make sure that they are properly tightened, installing new fasteners as necessary, free of charge. The sidewall steel body cords may be exposed, which can cause unexpected, rapid air loss during use.

  Risk: Rapid air loss can increase the risk of a crash.

The brake caliper mounting bolts on these vehicles may be insufficiently tightened, allowing the bolts to loosen.

  Risk: If the brake caliper mounting bolts loosen, braking performance may be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash.

  Remedy: DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the brake caliper mounting bolts and tighten them as necessary, free of charge.   Risk: An electrical arc can increase the risk of a fire.

  Remedy: DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the power stud for the proper clearance to the bulkhead, and replace it if necessary, free of charge.
