Issue: On certain trucks, the connector(s) for the rear brake modulator(s) may not have proper wiring protection. As a result, the rear brake modulator(s) could short circuit and cause a loss of antilock braking system (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC). Safety Risk: A loss of ABS and ESC could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the rear brake modulator(s). The dealer will also install a cover on the connector(s).

Issue: On certain trucks, a software problem could cause the trailer turn signal lights not to work when towing. Note: This problem would cause an error message to display on the instrument panel. Safety Risk: Turn signal lights that don't work may cause a person not to recognize when a driver intends to turn or change lanes and could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Volvo Trucks advises you to test the trailer turn signals before driving, until the recall repairs are completed. Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to update the vehicle software.

Issue: On certain trucks, the brakes may release too slowly when the brake pedal is released. Canadian regulations require brakes to release within a certain time. Safety Risk: Brakes that release too slowly could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to install an additional brake release valve and fittings on the air brake system.

Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to replace the instrument cluster.

Issue: On certain trucks, the automatic high beams may not switch to low beams automatically. As a result, the trucks may not meet certain requirements of Canadian regulations. Safety Risk: High beams that stay on could cause glare for oncoming drivers and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Action: To reduce the safety risk, Volvo Trucks recommends you switch manually between the low beams and high beams until the recall repairs have been completed. Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to update the vehicle software.

Issue: On certain trucks, the steering gear may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, power steering fluid could leak and cause a loss of power steering assist. Note: For the VNR model, this recall affects both VNR and VNRe models. Safety Risk: A loss of power steering assist can cause a sudden increase in steering effort and create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering gear.

U.S. NHTSA recalls
01- STEERING:GEAR BOX:SHAFT SECTOR#24V121000
Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2024-2025 VNL and VNR vehicles. The steering gear sector shaft may have been improperly heat-treated, which can cause the gear teeth to crack or fracture.
Risk: A fractured steering gear shaft can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect the serial numbers, and replace the steering gears, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 5, 2024. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo Truck's number for this recall is RVXX2401.
