  On certain motorhomes, the frame rail extensions may not adequately support the trailer hitch mounting flange. Under certain loading or heavy braking conditions, the trailer hitch could detach, which would result in the separation of a towed vehicle or trailer, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, add a steel insert to increase the strength of the frame rail and strengthen the attachment of the hitch. Note: This recall supersedes recall 2017-166. Vehicles repaired under the previous recall will require re-inspection and possible additional repair.

  On certain motorhomes equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. Correction: Dealers will install frame rail extension liner brackets and add gussets to the lower extension flanges to add structural support to the hitch.

  On certain motorhomes, the front sway bar mounting bracket may not fit on the axle mounting surface correctly. This could cause the mounting bolts to bend or become loose, which could result in the sway bar possibly detaching, which could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Daimler Trucks of North America Dealers will modify the sway bar mounting surface.

  On certain motorhomes, when the throttle pedal is released, the associated throttle pedal sensor may not return to zero, causing the engine brake to fail to activate as expected. This could cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will replace the throttle pedal.

  On certain motorhomes equipped with a heavier weight adjustable offset foot pedal, the brake activation signal to the motorhome’s brake lights and to certain towed devices may not deactivate when the motorhome service brakes are released. This may cause the motorhome brake lights to potentially remain illuminated, which would result in the following road users being unaware of the driver's intentions. Additionally, if the brakes of a towed vehicle were to remained engaged, it could result in a loss of vehicle control. Both of these conditions could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will replace the torsion spring of the pedal assembly with an improved spring.

  On certain motorhomes with steering gears mounted on the front axle, an incorrect spacer may have been installed. This may result in wear over time, which could lead to a loss of the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and front axle wheels. If this happens, there could be a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect, and suspect gears will be replaced. Note: Owners are advised to not drive their motorhomes until a replacement steering gear is available.

  On certain motorhomes equipped with Lippert Components Inc. electric entry steps, an internal bolt on the steps that attaches the fan gear assembly to the steps could fracture. This results in the fan gear disengaging from the steps, which could cause the steps to stop in an unexpected position and appear to be loose or unstable. If the steps become unstable, it could cause a person to fall, resulting in injury. Correction: Dealers will install a step retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism, and all bolts of the mechanism will also be replaced.

This could allow the slide out compartment to be operated while the vehicle is moving, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install a relay to disconnect the slide out controller power source in the event of an electrical short.

  On certain vehicles, the compliance label does not contain the correct Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) for the front axle. The label incorrectly indicates a GVWR of 17,000 lbs on 45 foot buses and 16,600 lbs on on 37 and 40 foot buses. The correct GAWR would be 16,000 lbs and 15,000 lbs, respectively. Incorrect GAWR could cause the vehicle to be overloaded, which would result in poor vehicles handling characteristics, increasing the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Updated labels will be mailed to owners of affected vehicles, along with instructions for proper installation.

  Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. (Tiffin) is recalling certain 2009-2018 Allegro and Allegro RED, Bus and Phaeton vehicles, 2009-2010 Bay vehicles, 2011-2018 Breeze vehicles, and 2009-2015, and 2017-2018 Zephyr vehicles. These motorhomes are equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers that may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable.   Risk: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

  Remedy: Tiffin will notify owners, and instruct them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on February 5, 2018.   Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. (Tiffin) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Allegro Open Road motorhomes manufactured April 1, 2015, to September 16, 2016. The affected vehicles have a tow hitch with a weight capacity sticker that may indicate an incorrect weight capacity.

  Risk: If the hitch is loaded to the weight on sticker, the hitch may fail and the towed vehicle can separate from the motorhome, increasing the risk of a crash.

  Remedy: Tiffin will notify owners, and send them a corrected label to replace the incorrect label, free of charge. The recall began on October 31, 2016. Owners may contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661. Tiffin's number for this recall is TIF-104.

• STEERING:GEAR BOX:MOUNTING BRACKET#16V397000June 2, 2016

  Tiffin Motorhomes is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Allegro Phaeton and 2015-2016 Allegro Bus trucks manufactured October 1, 2014 to August 1, 2015, equipped with certain ZF RL77 / 80EM independent front steering axles equipped with Bosch 8018 steering boxes. The boxes were manufactured using incorrect internal spacers that can cause premature wear in the connection between the steering wheel and the front axle.

  Risk: The steering wheel's connection to the front axle could fail resulting in a sudden loss of steering ability, increasing the risk of a crash.

  Remedy: Tiffin will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the steering box if necessary, free of charge. Owners are urged not to drive their vehicles until they have been inspected. The recall began on August 17, 2016. Owners may contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661.

  Tiffin Motorhomes (Tiffin) is recalling certain model year 2007-2015 motorhomes manufactured May 1, 2007, to December 31, 2014, equipped with certain Coachstep Double and Triple Electric Steps. The bolt that attaches the fan gear assembly to the steps may fracture allowing the fan gear to disengage from the steps. As a result, the steps may not remain in the expected position and may become unstable.

  Risk: Unstable entry and exit steps increase the risk of injury.

  Remedy: Dealers will install a retainer bracket on the double step assemblies and the Coachstep Linkage Assembly will be replaced and a retainer bracket will be installed on the trip step assemblies.   Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc.(Tiffin) is recalling certain model year 2015 Allegro Red 36 QSA, Allegro Red 38 QBA, Phaeton 40 QBH, and Phaeton 40 QKH motorhomes manufactured April 22, 2014, to May 8, 2015. In the affected vehicles, moisture may enter the slide-out controller and cause the "switch out" connection to short, and cause the motorhome slide-out section to extend while the motorhome is moving.

  Risk: If the slide-out opens during transit, there is an increased risk of a vehicle crash.

  Remedy: Tiffin will notify owners, and dealers will install a relay to disconnect the power source of the slide-out, free of charge. The recall began on June 16, 2015. Owners may contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661.
