  Issue: On certain vehicles, a software problem could delay the rearview camera image from displaying when the transmission is shifted into reverse shortly after the vehicle is started. Canadian regulations require the rearview image to display within 2 seconds of shifting the transmission into reverse gear. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that doesn't display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Tesla will notify owners by email. Tesla has released an over-the-air software update to fix this problem. There is no further action required if your vehicle has software release 2026.8.6.1 or a later release.

If your vehicle is identified, you will be advised to contact Tesla Service to replace the car computer.

As a result, a second inspection and/or repair is required. On certain vehicles, two of the cosmetic roof trims may not be properly attached. This includes the cosmetic roof trim just behind the top of the windshield and the spine cosmetic roof trim between the rear doors. Over time, these cosmetic roof trims could loosen and separate from the vehicle. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2020-553. Safety Risk: Cosmetic roof trims that detach from a moving vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Tesla will notify owners by email and advise you to contact Tesla Service to arrange for an inspection and, if necessary, repair or replace the cosmetic roof trims.

If this happens, the center display can turn off while driving and cause some of the car's systems not to work properly. This includes the rearview camera display, defrost/defog control settings, and exterior turn signal lighting. Safety Risk: A rearview camera image that does not display could reduce a driver's ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. A windshield that cannot be defrosted/defogged could reduce visibility. Turn signals that do not work could cause a following driver not to recognize that a vehicle ahead intends to turn. These conditions could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Tesla advises owners to ensure that their vehicle software is up to date. Tesla will notify owners by email, including when parts are available to schedule service to upgrade the internal memory in the MCU.

  Issue: On certain vehicles, the bolts that attach the electric power steering assist motor to the steering gear may corrode and break. This could cause a loss of power steering assist. Safety Risk: A loss of power steering assist may result in a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low vehicle speeds. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Tesla will notify owners in writing and will arrange for the replacement of the mounting bolts for the electric power steering assist motor. This service will be provided to customers free of charge. If any broken bolts are found or if the bolts break during removal and cannot be removed, Tesla will install a new steering gear.

  On certain vehicles, the Brembo electric parking brake calipers could contain an improperly manufactured internal gear that could break under load. If the gear broke, the parking brake would not release and could result in an inability to move a parked vehicle. If the gear broke prior to full parking brake engagement, the parking brake could have less holding force than intended, which could result in unintended vehicle movement, increasing the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Tesla Service Centers will replace the defective park brake calipers. Note: The regular braking system is not affected by this issue.
