Issue: On certain emergency vehicles, the inversion valve in the air brake system may not work properly. As a result, there could be a delay before the parking brake applies. If this happens, the vehicle could move unexpectedly. This issue also causes the vehicle not to meet the requirements of the Canadian regulations. Safety Risk: A delay before the parking brake applies could result in unintended vehicle movement, and create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: Spartan Fire will notify the owners by mail and arrange for an inspection of the inversion valve. If the valve is not certified, it will be replaced.

As a result, an axle nut could loosen and a wheel end could separate from the truck. Safety Risk: A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Spartan Fire will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to an authorized service facility to inspect the steer axle nut retaining clips, and replace them if necessary.

Safety Risk: A parking brake that self-applies while driving could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, if a following driver does not recognize when a vehicle ahead is braking, there could also be an increased risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Spartan will notify owners by mail and instruct you to contact a dealership or repair facility, who must contact Meritor's Technical Call Center to verify if the truck is affected by this campaign. The differential carrier assembly will be replaced, if necessary.
