    Issue: On certain trucks, poor signal strength could cause the electronic control unit (ECU) to stop working or not to work properly. As a result, some safety systems may not work, including the antilock braking system, automatic traction control, electronic stability control, active cruise control and the collision mitigation system. Safety Risks: Vehicle safety systems that don't work correctly could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: PACCAR will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to reprogram the ECU software.

Corrective Actions: PACCAR will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect the clearance between the Hill Start Assist valve assembly and the rear axle. The dealer will rework the assembly if more clearance is needed.

    Issue: On certain trucks, the fuel rail assembly could develop a leak. Note: This recall only affects trucks equipped with a Cummins L9 or ISX12 diesel engine. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Cummins will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a Cummins authorized service center to inspect the fuel rail. If damage is found, the fuel rail and fuel lines will be replaced. If no damage is found, the fuel rail will be reassembled with new crush washers using a special tool.

    Issue: On certain vehicles, the cap screws that attach the flywheel to the crankshaft may not have been properly tightened. As a result, the flywheel could detach. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels and parts could be ejected from the engine compartment. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Parts that are ejected from the engine compartment could create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Cummins will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a Cummins authorized service center to tighten the flywheel cap screws. Cummins will repair damaged components, as necessary.

Note: This recall only affects certain trucks with trailer hitches installed by Commercial Truck Equipment. Safety Risk: A trailer that detaches from a truck could create a risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Commercial Truck Equipment will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to inspect the trailer hitch and repair or replace it, as necessary. You should stop using the trailer hitch until the inspection and repair have been completed.

Safety Risk: If a driver is not warned that the ABS is not working properly, there could be an increased risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: PACCAR will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealer to update the software for the cab control module (CECU).

Correction: Dealers will recalibrate the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

    On certain trucks built with a Cummins X15 or ISX15 engine equipped with nylon fuel lines and a banjo bolt on the fuel pump, a blockage in the fuel cooling system may cause a fuel line to burst. This could result in a significant fuel leak onto the roadway, which would create a road hazard for other motorists. Additionally, this condition could also cause an engine stall without warning, without the ability to restart the engine. Both of these conditions may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Cummins-authorized dealers will replace the affected nylon line with a steel line.

    Certain vehicles may fail to conform to the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 121 - Air Brake Systems and CMVSS 136 - Electronic Stability Control Systems for Heavy Vehicles. In the event that the anti-lock brake system (ABS) loses battery and/or ignition power to the controller, the ABS indicator lamp may not illuminate to warn the driver of the loss of ABS, which is contrary to the requirements of the standards. This could result in the loss of ABS function with no warning to the driver, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the cab control module.

    On certain vehicles, the castellated nut and cotter pin on the steer axle may not have been tightened to specification. This could cause the tie rod to become loose in the steer axle, which would result in audible noise and/or looseness in steering. If the vehicle were continued to be operated in this condition, the tie rod could disconnect from the knuckle, resulting in a complete loss of control of a vehicle wheel, which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the torque of the castellated nuts on the tie rod, and replace the tie rod stud and knuckle as necessary.

This could result in a loss of pumping function, which could result in an engine stall without warning and not being able to be restarted, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Cummins-authorized dealers will replace the fuel pump.

    On certain vehicles, the stop lamps may fail to activate due to a defective weld and incomplete circuit within the stop lamp switch. If the stop lamp switch fails during the application of the service brakes, the brake lights on the vehicle and trailer will not illuminate, thereby increasing the possibility of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and replace any 08-01760 stop lamp switches with a suspect date code (1056, 1026, 0821, 1386 and 1456).

Correction: Dealers will rotate the alternator cable end 180 degrees to provide necessary clearance and reattach the cable to the alternator.

The tire information label may indicate incorrect tire pressure, understated by 5 PSI, or a tire/rim/inflation pressure combination for which the maximum GAWR is slightly below the GAWR of the vehicle. Underinflated tires may not be capable of supporting the maximum load as reflected by the GAWR and GVWR specified on the certification label, which could cause tire failure resulting in injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Manufacturer will mail new tire and rims certification label.

Also, in certain low traction conditions, unexpected brake application can cause a loss of vehicle control and a crash. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will update the cover assembly on the ATR valves.

Correction: Dealers will update the engine control software.

    On certain vehicles equipped with a PACCAR MX engine, the oil module centrifugal spinner filter cap may become loose, possibly allowing the cap to come off and engine oil to partially discharge from the oil module onto nearby exhaust components. The discharge of engine oil onto hot exhaust components could result in a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will re-torque the oil module filter cap and install a secondary retention device on the secondary centrifugal spinner filter cap.

    On certain vehicles, the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) oil seal installed on the output shaft of the valve actuator may delaminate, possibly allowing engine oil to leak from the EGR valve onto exhaust components. Engine oil leaking onto hot exhaust components, such as when the engine is under significant load, may create the possibility of a fire which can result in personal injury or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the EGR valve.

    On certain trucks, the weld around the steering shaft tube, which joins the splined tube to the non-splined intermediate tube, may be mislocated. An improperly located weld bead may allow the splined tube and non-splined tube to rotate relative one another during a low speed, high torque turn, resulting in a possible separation of the tubes. This could cause a loss of steering control which could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering shaft.
