Issue: Certain motorhomes built on a Freightliner chassis could have a problem with the rear-mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM). This could cause the tail lights not to work properly. Note: This recall replaces FL-856 (Transport Canada recall 2020-336). Motorhomes that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety Risk: Brake lights or turn signals that do not work could cause a following driver not to recognize that a vehicle ahead is braking or intends to turn. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Newmar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to contact a Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) authorized service facility to schedule a repair. The service facility will install a new wiring harness bypass.

Issue: On certain motorhomes built on a Freightliner chassis, the driver may not be able to dim the lights on the instrument panel to a low level. As a result, light from the instrument panel could cause glare while driving at night. Canadian regulations require that the instrument panel lights can be dimmed to a lower level. Safety Risk: Glare from bright instrument panel lights could reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Newmar will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

Safety Risk: Brake lights or turn signals that do not work could cause a following driver not to recognize that a vehicle ahead is braking or intends to turn. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Newmar will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their motorhome to a Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) authorized service facility to replace the PDM.

Note: This condition can only happen with the ignition key in the off/accessory position and the battery disconnect on.

A loose power connection may cause a build up of heat at the connection, which would increase the risk of overheating or a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the electrical connections in the breaker box and repair as necessary.

On certain motorhomes built on a Freightliner chassis, an incorrect valve stem stabilizer may have been used on the single drive axle. This could result in the incorrect stabilizer to become dislodged from the wheel and allow the valve stem extension for the inner wheel to contact the outer wheel, potentially causing damage to the valve stem. If the valve stem we to be damaged, it could cause a loss of air pressure in the inner tire, which may overload the outer tire and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will inspect and replace the inner wheel valve stem stabilizer as necessary.

If the power connection is loose, it could result in a build up of heat at the connection, which could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the electrical connections and perform repairs as necessary.

On certain motorhomes equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly.
