  Issue: Certain motorhomes built on a Freightliner chassis could have a problem with the rear-mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM). This could cause the tail lights not to work properly. Note: This recall replaces FL-856 (Transport Canada recall 2020-336). Motorhomes that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety Risk: Brake lights or turn signals that do not work could cause a following driver not to recognize that a vehicle ahead is braking or intends to turn. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Newmar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to contact a Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) authorized service facility to schedule a repair. The service facility will install a new wiring harness bypass.

  Issue: On certain motorhomes, the fuel rail assembly could develop a leak. Note: This recall only affects motorhomes equipped with a Cummins L9 or ISX12 diesel engine. Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Cummins will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorhome to a Cummins authorized service center to inspect the fuel rail. If damage is found, the fuel rail and fuel lines will be replaced. If no damage is found, the fuel rail will be reassembled with new crush washers using a special tool.

  Issue: On certain motorhomes, the brake light switch or wiring could be damaged by contact with the windshield wiper mechanism. If this happens, the brake lights may not turn on when the brakes are applied. Safety Risk: Brake lights that do not work properly could result in road users being confused of the driver's intentions, and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Newmar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorhome to a dealer to inspect the brake light switch. It will be replaced, if necessary.

As a result, the battery cable may be improperly routed and/or clipped, potentially causing the cable to short against the frame rail, which could increase the risk of a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will inspect the mounting of the battery cable bracket, and repair as necessary.

If the ignition is on and the remote night shade button is pushed, the night shades can come down, blocking the side views of the driver, which may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will install a relay to disable the operation of the driver and passenger night shade by the remote when the ignition is in the ON position.

Over time, if not detected, the loose ball joints could separate, which could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Spartan service centers will remove, clean, apply thread locker, reinstall and torque the ball joints as necessary.

  On certain motorhomes, a rubber coated braided power steering hose may have inadequate clearance to the starter power stud due to incorrect routing. This could cause the power steering hose to rub against the stud on the starter motor, which could cause an electrical arc and a power steering fluid leak. A power steering leak in the presence of an electrical arc could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. A power steering fluid leak could also require additional steering effort which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and reroute the power steering hose for proper clearance to the starter stud.

  On certain motorhomes, wires in the throttle circuit were not shielded properly during manufacturing. This could result in a throttle setting above or below the commanded throttle setting/input. An incorrect setting for the throttle input could result in a loss of throttle or inadvertent acceleration of the throttle which, depending on the driver's reactions and traffic conditions, could increase the risk of a crash and/or property damage. Correction: An authorized Spartan Service Center will supply and install an overlay harness with the wires shielded to the proper specification.

If this occurs, the slide out could come in contact with the driver or passenger which could cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.   On certain motorhomes, the windshield wiper system may not operate as designed. This could cause the wiper motor to stall in high torque conditions such as a dry windshield. This could also cause the lights to turn off when the wipers are activated for anything but the washing cycle. These conditions could impair the driver’s visibility which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update the wiper software.
