This excess insulation could cover the VIN label, and potentially affect bonding of the windshield. If the windshield bonding is affected on the passenger side, in the event of a crash (where passenger frontal airbag deployment is warranted), the airbag may not deploy as designed, which would fail to meet the requirements of the standard, and increase the risk of injury in a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect the bulkhead insulation for excess material and remove it as necessary. In the event of compromised windshield bonding, the bonding will be reworked.

However, the engine will not restart automatically after releasing the brake pedal, and would needed to be restarted manually. Depending on traffic conditions and the driver’s reactions, an unintentional engine shut-down could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will update the ECU software.
