This could result in moisture ingress, which could lead to an electrical short and fire, increasing the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the chassis power distribution center with a design using sealed modules to eliminate exposure to moisture and improved abrasion resistance. Note: This recall supersedes recall 2016-345. Vehicles repaired under the previous recall will require re-inspection and repair.

On certain vehicles, the ground trace in the cab power distribution center circuit board may not adequately carry the required maximum electrical load demands of the circuit. Failure of the ground trace could result a possible fire, which would increase the risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will relocate the ground path from the circuit board directly to the cab ground stud.

On certain vehicles, movement of the primary battery ground cable could be restricted. This could cause the eyelet on the cable to fail due to fatigue. If this were to happen, the engine crank circuit could find an alternative path to ground through the engine harness. The ground wire in the harness would not be able to carry the amperage associated with the cranking circuit, and the insulation on the engine harness ground wire could melt, which could result in a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace and reroute the battery ground cable.

On certain vehicles equipped with Cummins ISB or ISL engines, the fuel filter shell and nut plate could separate, causing a fuel leak and also causing the engine to stall. Stalling would result in a loss of motive power, increasing the risk of a crash resulting in injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Cummins-authorized dealers will replace the fuel filter.
