On certain electric school buses, the high-voltage power disconnect switch may not work properly. As a result, the high-voltage distribution module could still have power even if the switch is in the ''OFF'' position. This issue could cause a person not to be aware that the high-voltage system is still powered. Safety Risk: Not being aware that a high-voltage system is powered could create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: International Motors will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your school bus to a dealership to remove the shorting bars in the high-voltage disconnect bypass connector.

Issue: On certain school buses, the warning light for the antilock brake system (ABS) doesn't stay on when there's a problem with the system, and the vehicle is moving. Safety Risk: A driver that is not warned about a problem with the antilock brake system could have an increased risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Navistar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your bus to a dealership to update the brake system electronic control unit software.

As a result, the bolts may loosen over time and the rear axle could move from side-to-side. If this happens, there could be a sudden change in vehicle stability. Safety Risk: A sudden change in vehicle stability could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Navistar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your bus to a dealership to replace the bolts that attach the transverse torque arm to the rear axle, and tighten them correctly.

Issue: On certain electric school buses, the high-voltage positive cables from the battery packs to the manual service disconnect (MSD) may be marked with blue tape instead of white tape. A high-voltage cable with the wrong markings may indicate to a first responder, technician, or customer that the cable is de-energized, when it still has power. Safety Risk: A high-voltage cable that isn't marked correctly could create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Navistar will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your bus to a dealership to install white marking tape and warning labels on the high-voltage cables from the battery packs to the MSD

Issue: On certain school buses, the nut that attaches the steering wheel to the steering shaft may not have been properly tightened. If the nut loosens, the steering wheel could detach and cause a loss of steering control. Safety Risk: A loss of steering control can create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: IC Bus advises you to park your school bus immediately until you can schedule an appointment with any IC Bus dealer to have your vehicle repaired. The dealer will remove and reinstall the steering wheel, apply thread-locking compound and tighten the nut correctly.
