Issue: On certain motorcycles, the exhaust pipe could overheat under certain riding conditions. If this happens, heat from the exhaust pipe could cause the oil cooler pipe to melt and create an oil leak. Safety Risk: Oil that leaks onto a hot exhaust system could create a fire risk. An oil leak near the rear tire could affect handling and control of the motorcycle. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and advise you to not to drive your motorcycle above 5,000 RPM in 1st gear until the recall repairs have been completed. You should contact a Honda Powersports dealer immediately if the motorcycle has an oil leak. When repair parts are available, Honda will send you a second letter. They will advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the oil cooler pipe and install a heat guard between the exhaust pipe and oil cooler pipe.

Issue: On certain CBR100RR-R (Fireblade SP) models, the rear shock connecting plate may not have been installed correctly. As a result, the plate may break suddenly while riding and cause a drop in vehicle height. If this happens, the stability and control of the motorcycle could be affected. Safety Risk: A loss of stability or control could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a Honda Powersport dealer to inspect the left and right rear shock connecting plates. If they are not correctly installed, they will be replaced.
- Powertrain#2020506

Issue: On certain motorcycles, the pivot bolt on the gear shift lever can loosen during a strong up-shift gear change. If this happens, the bolt could break and the shift lever could fall off, making it impossible to change gears. Safety Risk: An inability to change gears could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Honda will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the shift lever pivot bolt. Dealers will also apply a thread locking compound to the bolt.
