Issue: Certain motorhomes built on a Freightliner chassis could have a problem with the rear-mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM). This could cause the tail lights not to work properly. Note: This recall replaces FL-856 (Transport Canada recall 2020-337). Motorhomes that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety Risk: Brake lights or turn signals that do not work could cause a following driver not to recognize that a vehicle ahead is braking or intends to turn. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: REV Group will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

Issue: Certain motorhomes built on a Freightliner chassis could have a problem with the rear-mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM). This could cause the tail lights not to work properly. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2018-615. Vehicles that had an inspection, but did not have the PDM replaced under the previous recall, require a second repair under this recall. Safety Risk: Brake lights, marker lights or turn signals that do not work properly could make the vehicle less visible. They could also cause a following driver not to recognize that a vehicle ahead is braking or intends to turn. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: REV Recreation Group will notify owners by mail and provide a letter from Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA). This letter will instruct owners to take their motorhome to a DTNA authorized service facility to replace the PDM.

On certain vehicles built on a Freightliner chassis, the rear-mounted Power Distribution Module (PDM) may have a manufacturing defect that could cause intermittent functioning of the rear marker, brake lights or left turn signal. Without brake lights, a following motorist may not to recognize that a vehicle ahead is braking, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks North American (DTNA) will inspect and repair the PDM as necessary.

On certain vehicles equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. On certain motorhomes, the step tread of the interior entry steps may have been insufficiently supported during assembly. This could result in the step tread to potentially become unstable, which could cause a person to fall, resulting in injury. Correction: Dealers will install new screws to properly secure the horizontally mounted plywood cleats to the plywood supporting structure of the interior entry steps.

On certain motorhomes, a rubber coated braided power steering hose may have inadequate clearance to the starter power stud due to incorrect routing. This could cause the power steering hose to rub against the stud on the starter motor, which could cause an electrical arc and a power steering fluid leak. A power steering leak in the presence of an electrical arc could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. A power steering fluid leak could also require additional steering effort which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and reroute the power steering hose for proper clearance to the starter stud.

Kongsberg Power Products Systems I, Inc., (KPPS) is submiting this notice of defect on behalf of Monaco Coach regarding certain motorhomes equipped with an adjustable brake pedal assembly. The brake pedal arm may loosen, rotate around its shaft, and swing in front of the accelerator pedal. Should the brake pedal arm contact and engage the accelerator pedal, it could result in extended stopping distances and a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: KPPS will provide a clamp assembly kit along with installation instructions.

On certain vehicles equipped with an adjustable brake pedal assembly, a drive pin that is below specification may become disengaged from the brake arm, causing separation or loosening of the pedal from the remainder of the assembly. If the drive pin becomes disengaged from the brake pedal assembly it could result in a loss of vehicle braking function and/or cause the brake pedal to interfere with the throttle pedal. Either condition could result in a vehicle crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will install a secondary pin retention system.
