Issue: On certain RV trailers, the shock bolts may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the bolts could break. If this happens, the bolts and washers could separate and fall from the trailer. Note: This recall only affects certain trailers equipped with Curt touring coil suspensions. Safety Risk: Parts that fall from the trailer could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your RV trailer to a dealership to replace the shock bolts.

Issue: On certain RV trailers, the quick disconnect fittings for the propane (LP) gas system may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the fittings could crack and leak propane. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2022-246. Trailers that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety Risk: A propane gas leak could create the risk of a fire or explosion. Corrective Actions: Grand Design will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your RV trailer to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the quick disconnect fittings on the propane system. The dealer will also perform a leak test.

Issue: On certain RV trailers, the grease fittings on the axles may not have been tightened properly. As a result, a fitting could separate and damage the pin that locks the axle nut in place. If the axle nut comes loose, the spindle and wheel could separate from the trailer. Safety Risk: A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle. Corrective Actions: Grand Design will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your trailer to a dealership to inspect the axle assembly. It will be repaired or replaced, as needed.

This could lead you to overload the trailer, which could cause poor handling or a tire failure. Safety Risk: Poor handling or a tire failure could cause a loss of control and result in a crash. Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealership to install corrected cargo-carrying capacity labels. You can contact Grand Design RV directly if you would prefer to have them send you the label, and apply it yourself.

Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealership to inspect the fabric roll on the awning. It will be repaired or replaced, as necessary.

Issue: On certain RV trailers, a power wire behind the refrigerator may be secured incorrectly. Over time, the wire could move and contact the refrigerator cooling unit. This could damage the wire and cause electrical arcing. Safety Risk: Electrical arcing could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer to inspect the 110-V wire in the refrigerator cavity. The wire will be replaced or secured, as necessary.

Issue: On certain fifth wheel and travel trailers, electrical connectors located below the floor may not have been properly secured. As a result, a connector could fall to the bottom of the under-floor area. If this happens, and water enters the area, there could be a short circuit. Safety Risk: A short circuit could increase the risk of fire. Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer for an inspection of the Molex connectors located in the underbelly of the trailer. If the connectors are not properly secured, they will be bundled and secured to the underside of the floor or a frame cross member.

On certain travel trailers, the inline 50 A circuit breaker for the trailer break-away switch and power converter may have been wired incorrectly, and as a result, would not provide over-current protection for the circuit. In the event of an over-current situation (short to ground, etc.), the wiring could overheat, increasing the risk of a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the circuit wiring, and if wired incorrectly, it will be re-wired to ensure over-current protection is provided.

On certain travel trailers, the laminated plastic touch pad on the top of the power tongue jack may crack and/or separate. This could result in water entering the internal circuitry of the touch pad, potentially causing unintended extension or retraction of the power tongue jack. If this were to occur while the vehicle was in motion, it could result in loss of control and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the "Smart Jack" power tongue jack assembly with an updated version with improved water protection.

If the tire contacts the ram during travel, there is an increased risk of a tire blow out, which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install a lift kit at each of the axle hangers, which will provide an additional two inches of clearance between the tire and slide out ram.

Certain travel trailers outfitted with MB Sturgis propane regulators may have been assembled with an improper crimp of the retaining cap for the regulator diaphragm. The regulator sight glass could degrade, potentially causing a crack, which could result in a slow leak of propane gas. Propane gas in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire and/or an explosion causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the propane regulator and associated hoses.
