Issue: On certain RV trailers, the quick disconnect fittings for the propane (LP) gas system may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the fittings could crack and leak propane. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2022-246. Trailers that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety Risk: A propane gas leak could create the risk of a fire or explosion. Corrective Actions: Grand Design will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your RV trailer to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the quick disconnect fittings on the propane system. The dealer will also perform a leak test.

Issue: Certain RV trailers were equipped with safety chains that are not strong enough. As a result, if the trailer becomes uncoupled from the tow vehicle, the safety chains could break. This could allow the trailer to detach from the tow vehicle. Safety Risk: A trailer that separates from the tow vehicle could create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your trailer to a dealership to replace the safety chains with stronger ones.

Issue: On certain RV trailers, the grease fittings on the axles may not have been tightened properly. As a result, a fitting could separate and damage the pin that locks the axle nut in place. If the axle nut comes loose, the spindle and wheel could separate from the trailer. Safety Risk: A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle. Corrective Actions: Grand Design will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your trailer to a dealership to inspect the axle assembly. It will be repaired or replaced, as needed.

Issue: On certain RV trailers, the cargo-carrying capacity was not calculated with the fresh water tanks full. As a result, the trailer is labelled with the wrong cargo-carrying capacity. This could lead you to overload the trailer, which could cause poor handling or a tire failure. Safety Risk: Poor handling or a tire failure could cause a loss of control and result in a crash. Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealership to install corrected cargo-carrying capacity labels. You can contact Grand Design RV directly if you would prefer to have them send you the label, and apply it yourself.

Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealership to install the missing tire and loading information label. Issue: On certain RV trailers, the fabric for the patio awning may not be properly attached. As a result, the awning could detach and fall from the trailer. Safety Risk: An awning that falls from the trailer could create a risk of injury. An awning that falls from a moving vehicle could create road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealership to inspect the fabric roll on the awning. It will be repaired or replaced, as necessary.

Issue: On certain RV trailers, a power wire behind the refrigerator may be secured incorrectly. Over time, the wire could move and contact the refrigerator cooling unit. This could damage the wire and cause electrical arcing. Safety Risk: Electrical arcing could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer to inspect the 110-V wire in the refrigerator cavity. The wire will be replaced or secured, as necessary.

Note: This recall only affects trailers equipped with a Winntec propane regulator. Safety Risk: Unregulated propane pressure can create the risk of an appliance fire. Corrective Action: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your travel trailer to a dealer, to replace the propane (LP) regulator.
