Issue: On certain RV trailers, the U-bolts that attach the axles to the suspension may not have been properly tightened. As a result, an axle could slide back on the leaf spring. This could cause poor handling and lead to a loss of control. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall nos. 2023-395 and 2024-164. RV trailers that were repaired under those recalls also require this repair. Safety Risk: A loss of control could create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development.

Issue: On certain RV trailers, the fasteners securing the cooling unit to the refrigerator may be loose or missing. As a result, the cooling unit could move and cause the propane line to crack and leak. Note: This recall is an expansion of Transport Canada recall no. 2024-302. Safety Risk: A propane gas leak can create the risk of a fire or an explosion. Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your RV trailer to a dealership to inspect and, as necessary, repair or replace the refrigerator and propane line.

Issue: On certain RV trailers, the receiver for the removable step on the side of the trailer may not have been attached properly. As a result, the receiver could detach from the bracket and cause a person to fall. Safety risk: A step that detaches could create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Grand Design advises that you should check that the receiver for the step bracket is properly secured until the recall repairs have been completed. Grand Design will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your RV trailer to a dealership to inspect and, as necessary, reattach the receiver for the removable step.

Safety risk: A step tread that moves could create a risk of injury. Note: This recall replaces Transport Canada recall no. 2022-246. Trailers that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety Risk: A propane gas leak could create the risk of a fire or explosion. Corrective Actions: Grand Design will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your RV trailer to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the quick disconnect fittings on the propane system. The dealer will also perform a leak test.

If the axle nut comes loose, the spindle and wheel could separate from the trailer. Safety Risk: A wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle. Corrective Actions: Grand Design will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your trailer to a dealership to inspect the axle assembly. It will be repaired or replaced, as needed.

This could lead you to overload the trailer, which could cause poor handling or a tire failure. Safety Risk: Poor handling or a tire failure could cause a loss of control and result in a crash. Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealership to install corrected cargo-carrying capacity labels. You can contact Grand Design RV directly if you would prefer to have them send you the label, and apply it yourself.

Issue: On certain RV trailers, a power wire behind the refrigerator may be secured incorrectly. Over time, the wire could move and contact the refrigerator cooling unit. This could damage the wire and cause electrical arcing. Safety Risk: Electrical arcing could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: Grand Design RV will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer to inspect the 110-V wire in the refrigerator cavity. The wire will be replaced or secured, as necessary.

On certain fifth wheel trailers manufactured with a Christianson Industries exterior foldable ladder, the ladder's mounting bracket could separate from the hinge due to an incorrect weld. This could result in the ladder separating from the vehicle, which if an individual were to be utilizing the ladder, it could lead to an increased risk of injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install a hinge brace over the back of the existing hinges to secure the hinge and mounting bracket.
