Issue: On certain RV trailers, the receiver for the removable step on the side of the trailer may not have been attached properly. As a result, the receiver could detach from the bracket and cause a person to fall. Safety risk: A step that detaches could create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Forest River will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your RV trailer to a dealership to inspect and, as necessary, reattach the receiver for the removable step.

Issue: On one RV trailer, the anti-siphon vent may not have been installed properly. As a result, gas from the waste water tank could enter the RV. This could also cause the holding tanks not to drain and/or fill properly. Safety Risk: Sewer gas that enters the RV could increase the risk of injury. Corrective Actions: Forest River will notify the owner by mail and instruct them to take their trailer to a dealership to replace the anti-siphon vent.

Issue: On a small number of RV trailers, the trailer hitch coupler could fail. Note: This recall only affects RV trailers equipped with a Pacific Rim 6350 kg (14,000 lb.) coupler. Safety Risk: A hitch coupler that fails could cause the trailer to detach from the tow vehicle and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Forest River will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your RV trailer to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the trailer hitch coupler.

As a result, the wire may not have proper circuit protection and could short circuit. Safety Risk: A short circuit can create a fire risk. Corrective Actions: Forest River will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your RV trailer to a dealership to rewire the affected wire to the breaker.

As a result, the cooktop can be stowed away with the propane hose still attached, and the burner(s) turned on. Safety Risk: An outdoor cooktop that is stowed away with the burner turned on could create a fire risk. Corrective Actions: Forest River will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your travel trailer to a dealership to install a bracket to prevent the cooktop drawer from being closed while the propane line is still attached.

Issue: On certain travel trailers, the U-bolts used to hold the spare tire carrier to the travel trailer may break. This could cause the tire and carrier to separate from the trailer. Safety Risk: A spare tire carrier that falls from the trailer could become a hazard for other road users and bystanders. This could create a risk of injury and/or a crash. Corrective Actions: Forest River will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your travel trailer to a dealer to replace the defective U-bolts. Forest River advises that you should remove the spare tire until the recall repairs have been completed.

On certain fifth wheels, travel trailers and motorhomes, the electrical motor for the awning could become damaged, allowing the awning to unfurl unexpectedly. As a result, the awning could strike another vehicle, a stationary object, or a bystander, causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the awning motor.
