Issue: On certain motorcycles, the passenger backrest could crack and break if it is used incorrectly or was not installed correctly. If this happens, a passenger could suddenly lose back support. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of back support could increase the risk of a crash or injury. Corrective Actions: Ducati will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to inspect the installation of the passenger backrest. The dealer will adjust it, as necessary, and install a warning sticker to inform how to properly use the backrest.

Issue: On certain motorcycles, the retaining pin for the side stand spring could break. If this happens, the side stand could fall or open suddenly while riding and cause the engine to stall. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Ducati will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to install a new side stand bracket.

  • Structure#2021090

    308 units affected

Issue: On certain motorcycles, the side stand may break. If this happens, the motorcycle could fall over while it is parked. Safety Risk: A motorcycle that falls over could create a risk of injury to nearby people. Corrective Actions: Ducati will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the side stand, side stand bracket and locking plate.

  • Brakes#2017637

    1,081 units affected

On certain motorcycles, a crack within the polyphenilene sulphide (PPS) piston of the front brake master cylinder could occur. This could result in the master cylinder to not be able to generate sufficient hydraulic pressure, which could lead to a loss of braking capability of the front brake, increasing stopping distances and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the PPS piston with one made from aluminum.

  • Wheels#2016258

    136 units affected

On certain motorcycles, the rear wheel may have been incorrectly installed on the rear wheel hub. The four hub pins may not have been engaged into the proper rear wheel rim holes, and could have been mis-installed in the wheel casting recesses. If the rear wheel was incorrectly installed and the four hub pins are not engaged, there is the possibility for the pins to rotate within the wheel casting recesses. If left unaddressed, the movement of the wheel can cause failure of the drive pins, resulting in loss of propulsion and loss of rear wheel braking, increasing the risk of injury to the rider and/or passenger. Correction: Dealers will inspect the rear wheel rim and install and adhere four rubber inserts in the rear wheel rim hub casting recesses to avoid the possibility of incorrect installation.
