  Issue: On certain motorcycles, the ignition lock could wear and lose electrical contact. As a result, the engine could stall while riding. This could also cause the brake lamp, turn signals, anti-lock brake system (ABS) and instrument cluster not to work. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. A brake lamp or turn signals that don't work may cause a person not to recognize when a rider is braking, intends to turn, or change lanes, increasing the risk of a crash. In addition, a loss of ABS function could extend stopping distances, increasing the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW Motorrad will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to update the motorcycle software. The dealer will also inspect and, if necessary, replace the ignition lock.

  Issue: On certain motorcycles, the left combination switch may not have been manufactured correctly. As a result, the turn signals may not work. Safety Risk: Turn signals that don't work may cause a person not to recognize when a driver intends to turn or change lanes and could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: None of the affected motorcycles have been delivered to customers. BMW Motorrad will instruct dealers to replace the left combination switch before each motorcycle is delivered.

  Issue: This recall is for certain oil filters sold at BMW Motorrad dealerships as a replacement part for 2008 to 2024 models. This recall affects oil filter part number: 11427721779-04. On certain motorcycles, the oil filter may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, under certain conditions, the filter could loosen and create an oil leak. Safety Risk: An oil leak near the rear tire could affect handling and control of the motorcycle. An oil leak could create a hazard for others. Both issues could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, oil that leaks onto hot components could create a fire risk. Corrective Actions: BMW Motorrad will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the oil filter.

Corrective Actions: BMW Motorrad will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to replace the clutch cover bolts.

Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the fuel pump and auxiliary fuel pump (if equipped) with an improved version.

  Issue: On certain motorcycles, the front brake calipers may leak a small amount of brake fluid when parked. Over a long time, this could empty the fluid reservoir. If this happens, the motorcycle will have reduced brake performance. This problem may result in brake fluid on the front tire or wheel, and on the ground after the motorcycle has been parked for an extended period. The owner's manual has information for how to check the brake fluid level before riding. Note: This recall replaces BMW recall 34 003 20 (008) (Transport Canada recall 2020-377). Motorcycles that were repaired under that recall also require this repair. Safety Risk: Reduced front brake performance can cause extended stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to inspect the front brakes. The calipers will be replaced, if necessary.

This could reduce vehicle conspicuity to following and approaching road users, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the accessory turn signals with factory indicators that meet the requirements of the standard.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the fuel pump flange(s) and install a reinforcing ring or replace the fuel pump(s), as necessary.

  On certain motorcycles, the side stand may have been installed incorrectly during the vehicle assembly process. As a result, the side stand attachment bolts could loosen. This could cause the motorcycle to fall over (while resting on the stand), which could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will remove the side stand mounting plate, clean the components, and reinstall using new fasteners.

  On certain motorcycles, the connecting rod bolts could loosen and separate from the connecting rod. This could cause the rear-wheel to lock-up if the engine fails and seizes creating the risk of a crash. Additionally engine failure may also cause oil to leak in front of the rear tire which may render the vehicle unstable. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace connecting rod bolts and apply a thread-locking agent to the bolts.
