Issue: On certain motorcycles, the left combination switch may not have been manufactured correctly. As a result, the turn signals may not work. Safety Risk: Turn signals that don't work may cause a person not to recognize when a driver intends to turn or change lanes and could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: None of the affected motorcycles have been delivered to customers. BMW Motorrad will instruct dealers to replace the left combination switch before each motorcycle is delivered.

Issue: This recall is for certain oil filters sold at BMW Motorrad dealerships as a replacement part for 2008 to 2024 models. This recall affects oil filter part number: 11427721779-04. On certain motorcycles, the oil filter may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, under certain conditions, the filter could loosen and create an oil leak. Safety Risk: An oil leak near the rear tire could affect handling and control of the motorcycle. An oil leak could create a hazard for others. Both issues could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, oil that leaks onto hot components could create a fire risk. Corrective Actions: BMW Motorrad will notify owners in writing and advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to inspect and, if necessary, replace the oil filter.

Issue: On certain motorcycles, the "Dynamic Pro" riding mode settings were reset to the factory settings after a software update. As a result, the front wheel lift-off assistant was switched off/deactivated. A rider who doesn't know that the settings have reset could experience an unexpected change in handling and control. Safety Risk: An unexpected change in handling and control could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW Motorrad will notify owners by mail and advise you to check and adjust the settings in the "Dynamic Pro" riding mode. They will also advise you to take your motorcycle to a dealership for an inspection and to update the service records.

Safety Risk: An oil leak near the rear tire could affect handling and control of the motorcycle. This could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: BMW Motorrad will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealership to replace the clutch cover bolts.

Note: This is an expansion of recall 16 002 20 (014) (Transport Canada Recall No. 2020-437). Safety Risk: A fuel leak can create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: BMW will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to replace the fuel pump and auxiliary fuel pump (if equipped) with an improved version.

Certain tinted windshields sold as accessories through BMW dealerships may fail to comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 205 - Glazing Materials. The windshields may contain extra tinting in certain areas, which would be contrary to the requirements of the standard and could potentially limit the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the tinted windshield with one that meets the standard's requirements.

Certain motorcycles with dealer installed accessory turn signals may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CVMSS) 108 - Lighting System and Retroreflective Devices. The size of the lens on the accessory turn signals may be too small, and therefore would not meet the requirements of the standard. This could reduce vehicle conspicuity to following and approaching road users, and increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the accessory turn signals with factory indicators that meet the requirements of the standard.

On certain motorcycles, one of the bolts connecting the rear suspension deflection lever to the link strut, or the lever to the rear wheel swing arm (but not both) may not have been tightened to specification. This could result in the bolt becoming loose, which could affect vehicle handling and stability increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the bolted connection and ensure it is tightened to specification.
