    1 units affected

    Certain travel trailers were manufactured with axles rated at 3800 lbs instead of axles rated at 4400 lbs. A vehicle equipped with incorrect axles could be inadvertently be overloaded, leading to axle failure which may cause a loss of control resulting in a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will install axles rated at 4400 lbs.

U.S. NHTSA recalls

  • POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY#10V081000

    AIRSTREAM IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 FLYING CLOUD TRAVEL TRAILERS. THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH AXLES RATED AT 3,800 LBS. THE VEHICLES SHOULD HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH AXLES RATED AT 4,400 LBS.

    Risk: TOWING A VEHICLE WITH THE AXLE LOADED BEYOND THE SPECIFIED WEIGHT RATING MAY RESULT IN AXLE FAILURE LEADING TO POOR VEHICLE HANDLING INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

    Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE AXLES WITH ONE'S RATED AT 4,400 LBS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 31, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AIRSTREAM AT 1-877-246-7731.
