    19,251 units affected

    Issue: On certain trucks, poor signal strength could cause the electronic control unit (ECU) to stop working or not to work properly. As a result, some safety systems may not work, including the antilock braking system, automatic traction control, electronic stability control, active cruise control and the collision mitigation system. Note: For the VNR model, this recall affects only the VNRe model. Safety Risks: Vehicle safety systems that don't work correctly could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to reprogram the ECU software.

    Issue: On certain trucks, the castle nut connecting the steering arm to the drag link may not have been tightened properly. As a result, the nut could loosen and separate, causing a loss of steering control. Safety Risk: A loss of steering control could create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to inspect and re-tighten the castle nut.

    Issue: On certain trucks, the gears in the windshield wiper motor could wear. If this happens, the windshield wipers may not work. Safety Risk: Windshield wipers that don't work could reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your truck to a dealership to replace the windshield wiper motor.

    Issue: On certain trucks, the hub covers on the drive axles could come loose or detach while driving. Safety Risk: A hub cover that detaches from the truck could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Volvo Trucks will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your truck to a dealership to remove the hub covers from the drive axles.

  • STEERING:GEAR BOX:SHAFT SECTOR#24V121000

    Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2024-2025 VNL and VNR vehicles. The steering gear sector shaft may have been improperly heat-treated, which can cause the gear teeth to crack or fracture.

    Risk: A fractured steering gear shaft can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

    Remedy: Dealers will inspect the serial numbers, and replace the steering gears, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 5, 2024. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo Truck's number for this recall is RVXX2401.

  • ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC)#23V689000

    Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2024 Volvo VNL and VNR trucks. A software programming error may cause the electronic stability control (ESC) to be inoperative.

    Risk: Driving with an inoperative electronic stability control system can increase the risk of a crash.

    Remedy: Dealers will reprogram the control unit software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 3, 2023. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2310.

  • STEERING#23V690000

    Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2024 VNL, VHD, and VNR trucks. The fastener that connects two steering components, the pitman arm and draglink, may be loose, which can cause the connection to fail and result in a loss of steering control.

    Risk: A loss of steering control increases the risk of a crash.

    Remedy: Dealers will inspect and tighten the castle nuts and install new cotter pins, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 4, 2023. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2311.

  • VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:MOTOR#23V511000

    Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2022-2024 VNR, VNL, VHD, and VAH trucks. The windshield wiper motor gears may wear prematurely, causing the motor to fail.

    Risk: Inoperative windshield wipers can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

    Remedy: Dealers will replace the windshield wiper motor assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 1, 2023. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks number for this recall is RVXX2309.

  • ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM:TRACTION BATTERY:THERMAL MANAGEMENT:FLUID/COOLANT#23V280000

    Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2020-2024 VNR Electric vehicles. The coolant line in the high voltage battery pack may not be fully seated and locked, which can result in the loss of coolant and an electrical short circuit.

    Risk: A battery short circuit increases the risk of a fire.

    Remedy: Volvo Trucks will work with the battery manufacturer Akasol to inspect and replace the batteries, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 9, 2023. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo Truck's number for this recall is RVXX 2304.

  • WHEELS:HUBCAP/COVER#23V173000

    Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2024 VNR, VNL, and VHD vehicles. The hub covers do not properly fit on the hub and can detach from the vehicle.

    Risk: A detached hub cover can create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

    Remedy: Dealers will remove the hub covers, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 31, 2023. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 1-800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2302.
