    74 units affected

Issue: On certain CNG transit buses, the low-pressure hoses for the compressed natural gas (CNG) system may not meet the requirements of Canadian regulations. As a result, natural gas could leak from the hoses. Safety Risk: A CNG leak can create the risk of a fire and/or an explosion. Corrective Actions: Vicinity Motor Corporation will notify owners in writing and provide you with instructions to inspect and, if necessary, replace the CNG system low-pressure hoses. To reduce the safety risk, Vicinity Motor Corporation recommends not to use the bus until the recall repairs have been completed.

02
  • FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER#24V385000

Vicinity Motor Corporation (Vicinity) is recalling certain 2017 Vi33 and 2022 Vi35 buses powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). The low-pressure CNG hoses and fittings are insufficient and may leak. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 304, "Compressed Natural Gas Fuel Container Integrity."

Risk: A compressed natural gas leak can result in a fire or explosion, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Owners are advised to remove the vehicles from service until the final remedy becomes available. Dealers will replace the low pressure CNG hoses, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed August 1, 2024. A second notice will be sent once the remedy becomes available. Owners may contact Vicinity customer service at 1-604-607-4000. Vicinity's number for this recall is CA-000-054.

  • FUEL SYSTEM, OTHER:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY:MOUNTING#24V092000

Vicinity Motor Corporation (Vicinity) is recalling certain 2022 Vi35 transit buses. Inadequate clearance may allow the CNG tanks to contact the supporting mounting structure and/or safety cables, damaging the tanks.

Risk: A damaged tank can leak natural gas, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy: As an interim repair, dealers will inspect and adjust the mounting structure. If the vehicle's mounting structure cannot be adjusted, owners are advised not to drive their vehicle until the supporting member is replaced. When the final repair is available, dealers will inspect, secure the safety cables, install protective material on the tank, and replace the mounting structure and CNG tanks as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 18, 2024. Owners may contact Vicinity customer service at 1-604-607-4000. Vicinity's number for this recall is CA-000-051.
