Issue: This recall is for aftermarket extended thread lug nuts produced and sold by Transamerican Auto Parts. Some lug nuts were made with an incorrect thread. As a result, the nuts cannot be properly tightened. This could cause the nuts to loosen and potentially cause the lug studs to fail. If this happens, a wheel could come loose and cause a sudden change in vehicle handling. The wheel could also separate from the vehicle. Note: This is a voluntary recall that is not being conducted under the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Safety Risk: A sudden change in handling or a wheel separation could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. A wheel that separates could also hit another person or vehicle. Corrective Actions: If you have purchased these lug nuts, you should contact Transamerican Auto Parts customer service at (310) 900-5500 to arrange for their replacement. Products affected by this recall have the part numbers PXA16148 (Chrome), PXA16148B (Black), PXA16148OET (Short).
