On certain motorhomes equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. Under certain loading, or heavy braking conditions the trailer hitch could possibly detach, which would result in the loss of the towed vehicle and/or trailer, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will install frame rail extension liner brackets and add gussets to the lower extension flanges to add structural support to the hitch.

On certain motorhomes equipped with a heavier weight adjustable offset foot pedal, the brake activation signal to the motorhome’s brake lights and to certain towed devices may not deactivate when the motorhome service brakes are released. This may cause the motorhome brake lights to potentially remain illuminated, which would result in the following road users being unaware of the driver's intentions. Additionally, if the brakes of a towed vehicle were to remained engaged, it could result in a loss of vehicle control. Both of these conditions could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Daimler Trucks North America authorized service facilities will replace the torsion spring of the pedal assembly with an improved spring.

On certain motorhomes equipped with Lippert Components Inc. electric entry steps, an internal bolt on the steps that attaches the fan gear assembly to the steps could fracture. This results in the fan gear disengaging from the steps, which could cause the steps to stop in an unexpected position and appear to be loose or unstable. If the steps become unstable, it could cause a person to fall, resulting in injury. Correction: Dealers will install a step retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism, and all bolts of the mechanism will also be replaced.

On certain vehicles, the compliance label does not contain the correct Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) for the front axle. The label incorrectly indicates a GVWR of 17,000 lbs on 45 foot buses and 16,600 lbs on on 37 and 40 foot buses. The correct GAWR would be 16,000 lbs and 15,000 lbs, respectively. Incorrect GAWR could cause the vehicle to be overloaded, which would result in poor vehicles handling characteristics, increasing the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Updated labels will be mailed to owners of affected vehicles, along with instructions for proper installation.

Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. (Tiffin) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Allegro Bus 45 foot LP, 37 foot, and 40 foot motorhomes. In the affected vehicles, the Federal Certification label incorrectly states the front Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR). As such, the vehicles do not conform to Part 567, "Certification."
Risk: If the motorhome is loaded to the incorrect specifications listed on the label, tire failure may result, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Tiffin will notify owners and send a corrected sticker for the customer to put over the incorrect sticker, free of charge. The recall began early October 2014. Owners may contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661.
