Issue: On certain motorhomes, the nuts that attach the rear stabilizer bar bracket(s) could loosen and the attachment bolts and bracket could break. If this happens, the bolts and bracket could detach and separate from the vehicle. Safety Risk: Parts that detach from the motorhome could create a hazard for other road users and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Thor Motor Coach will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorhome to a Ford dealership to inspect, and replace or repair the rear stabilizer attachment bolts and brackets as necessary.

Issue: On certain motorhomes, the exterior compartment doors might not be properly attached. As a result, the outer panels of the compartment doors could detach from the motorhome. Safety Risk: A door panel that detaches from the motorhome could create a hazard for other drivers and nearby people. Corrective Actions: Thor Motor Coach will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for inspecting, and if necessary, replacing the exterior compartment door panels.

Issue: On certain motorhomes equipped with frameless windows, the adhesive that attaches the vented portion of the windows may fail. If this happens, the glass could separate and fall from the motorhome. Safety Risk: A window that detaches from the motorhome could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Action: Thor Motor Coach will notify owners by mail and instruct you to bring your motorhome to an authorized dealer or service center to inspect and replace the vent window glass, as required.

Issue: On certain motorhomes, the vehicle control system software may be defective. The software may allow various components in the motorhome to operate at random and without warning. This could result in sudden movement of the slide-out room(s). Safety Risk: If a slide-out room moves suddenly and without warning, it could create a risk of injury. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to update the motorhome's Multiplex system.

This could obstruct the driver's view, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will repair the motorized windshield shade.

On certain motorhomes equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. This could result in vehicle overloading leading to poor vehicle handling characteristics, which could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Updated labels will be mailed to owners of affected vehicles along with instructions for proper installation.

This could result in the wiper system being loose, which could limit the driver’s visibility under certain conditions which may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the wiper system to verify that the original recall repair was completed correctly, and will repair as necessary. Note: This recall supersedes recalls 2017-078 and 2017-172. A portion of vehicles repaired under the previous recall will require re-inspection and repair.

Correction: Dealers will inspect the wiper system for correct installation, and if required, the wiper nut(s) will be tightened to specification.

On certain motorhomes equipped with Lippert Components Inc. electric entry steps, an internal bolt on the steps that attaches the fan gear assembly to the steps could fracture. This results in the fan gear disengaging from the steps, which could cause the steps to stop in an unexpected position and appear to be loose or unstable. If the steps become unstable, it could cause a person to fall, resulting in injury. Correction: Dealers will install a step retainer bracket to reinforce the operating mechanism, and all bolts of the mechanism will also be replaced.

On certain motorhomes outfitted with Carefree awnings, the screws that secure the awning to the mounting bracket can break. If the mounting bracket assembly were to break apart, the awning can collapse, which could strike another vehicle, a stationary object, or a bystander, causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the defective screws.

On certain motorhomes outfitted with Carefree awnings, the mounting bracket that secures the awning to the motorhome can crack and break apart. If the mounting bracket were to break apart, the awning can collapse, which could strike another vehicle, a stationary object, or a bystander, causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will remove and replace the mounting brackets.
