Issue: On one school bus, the light sensors may not work correctly. Canadian regulations require that, if a vehicle is equipped with a light sensor, that the low beam headlamps and tail lamps must automatically switch on when it is dark or the tail lamps must stay on at all times. Safety Risk: Headlamps and tail lamps that don't work properly could reduce visibility and make the school bus less visible. Both issues could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) recommends you to manually turn on the low beam headlamps until the recall repairs are completed. DTNA will notify the owner by mail and advise them to take their school bus to a DTNA authorized service facility to update the vehicle software.

Issue: On certain school buses, the fasteners for the rear emergency exit door latch could loosen and detach. If this happens, and the door is pushed, it could open suddenly. Safety Risk: An emergency exit door that opens suddenly could increase the risk of injuries. Corrective Actions: Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are under development. DTNA recommends that you should contact them immediately if you notice any missing bolts during your daily pre-trip inspection.

Issue: On certain school buses, the driveshaft could break while driving and cause a sudden loss of power to the wheels. The driveshaft could also separate from the vehicle. UPDATE - After the company notified Transport Canada about this problem, they determined that there are no Canadian school buses affected by it. Accordingly, this safety recall was withdrawn. Safety Risk: There is no safety risk, as Canadian vehicles were not built with the recalled parts. Corrective Actions: This is not a recall. This notice is for information only.

Issue: On certain school buses, the rear interior side body panels may not have been attached correctly. As a result, the buses may not meet the joint strength requirements of Canadian regulations. Note: This recall affects both Saf-T-Liner C2 school buses and Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley (electric) school bus models. Safety Risk: A body joint that is not strong enough could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your bus to a DTNA authorized service facility to add more fasteners to the rear interior side body panel joints.
