On certain buses, the stem which joins the outside emergency door handle to the emergency door opening mechanism may potentially corrode. Excessive material loss of the stem due to corrosion could result in the outside handle separating from the door mechanism while trying to open the door from the exterior of the bus. In the event of an emergency, this could delay evacuation of the vehicle and increase the risk of injury to occupants. Correction: Dealers will inspect the stems and either replace or protect them against further corrosion. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2015290.

On certain vehicles equipped with a Carrier GenV EM-1 evaporator unit, the blower motor fuse assembly may allow the fuse to loosen over time, which could result in high resistance and arcing. If sufficient arcing occurs the fuse holder may melt, which could cause smoke and/or fire. A vehicle fire could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Carrier will provide a retrofit kit along with installation instructions.

On certain buses, the Megafuse junction box is located in an area exposed to excessive road splash and spray. In some applications the cable connections may corrode rapidly. If undetected, extreme corrosion may cause a power cable to become separated from the power source resulting in an unexpected engine shutdown or loss of vehicle lighting and windshield wipers. Unexpected engine shutdown or a loss of vehicle lighting and windshield wipers in certain traffic conditions could increase the potential of a vehicle crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the Megafuse junction block and electrical box.
