Issue: A small number of RV trailers were equipped with safety chains that are not strong enough. As a result, if the trailer becomes uncoupled from the tow vehicle, the safety chains could break. This could allow the trailer to detach from the tow vehicle. Safety Risk: A trailer that separates from the tow vehicle could create the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Starcraft RV will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your trailer to a dealership to replace the safety chains with stronger ones.

Issue: On certain travel trailers, the interior cooktop burner could be affected by the operation of the furnace. This could potentially cause the burner flame to invert. Safety Risk: An inverted burner flame could create the risk of a burn injury or cause a fire. Corrective Actions: Starcraft will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer to install panels and seal any gaps that could allow return air from the furnace to cause an inverted flame on the cooktop. Note: To minimize the safety risk, Starcraft recommends that the furnace and the range cooktop should not be used at the same time before the recall repairs have been completed.

Issue: On certain RV trailers, the propane (LP) regulator could fail. If this happens, high-pressure propane could reach the appliances. Note: This recall only affects trailers equipped with a Winntec model 6020 propane regulator. Safety Risk: Unregulated propane pressure can create the risk of an appliance fire. Corrective Action: Starcraft will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer to replace the propane (LP) regulator.

Issue: On certain travel trailers, the wiring in the hitch area does not have proper circuit protection. If a short circuit occurs, the wiring could overheat and melt. Safety Risk: Wiring that overheats or melts could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to install a fuse to protect the circuit.

On certain vehicles equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. On certain travel trailers, a CAUTION label informing owners not to leave the drain valve open to prevent an escape of sewer gas was omitted during production. If the drain valve is left open, it could result in sewer gas potentially filling the recreational vehicle, which would increase the risk of asphyxiation to occupants. Correction: Starcraft will send a CAUTION label to current owners with instructions for proper placement. If owners are not comfortable installing the label themselves, they can take the label to a Starcraft dealer for installation.

This could result in the LP lines and electrical wires being damaged by road debris, which could increase the risk of a propane leak and an electrical short. A propane leak in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will add an additional shield to protect lines and wiring.

Inadequate clearance between the wheel and wheel well may cause premature tire wear or possible tire failure, which could lead to a crash, resulting in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the hanger brackets on the frame with a new tube and bracket assembly.

Correction: Dealers will install a reinforcement bracket to the spare tire carrier.

On certain fifth wheel and travel trailers, the Atwood 35-series range oven, model number beginning with RV1735, RV2135, RA1735, or RA2135, may develop a small crack within the line delivering gas to the oven cavity burner. A propane leak, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire and/or explosion, causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the oven supply tube.
