On certain ATV’s, there is an error within the software which controls the electric power steering (EPS) module. In the event of a lost or intermittent connection to the EPS module, the power steering software would calibrate the steering to roughly five times the ordinary power steering resistance or two times unassisted, manual steering resistance. This sudden increase in steering resistance would unexpectedly increase steering effort, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update the software that controls the EPS unit, which will turn off the steering assist, rather an increase steering resistance if a connection fault is detected. Note: In the interim, owners are advised to stop riding their ATV until the defect has been repaired.
