03- Brakes#2017667
2 units affected
On certain motorhomes, the antilock brake system hydraulic electronic control unit (HECU) may have missing valve block ball plugs. This could cause fluid leaks or air ingress during braking, potentially increasing brake pedal travel and/or stopping distances. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Ford dealers will inspect the HECU for missing plugs and replace as necessary.
- Electrical#2017651
212 units affected
On certain motorhomes, there may be a loose electrical connection to the automatic transfer switch (ATS) that was not properly tightened. If the power connection is loose, it could result in a build up of heat at the connection, which could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the electrical connections and perform repairs as necessary.
- Accessories#2017635
3,664 units affected
On certain motorhomes equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. 03- SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC#17V843000
Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2017 Bay Star, Bay Star Sport, and Canyon Star vehicles, built on Ford chassis and equipped with Antilock Brake Systems (ABS). The brake Hydraulic Electronic Control Units (HECU) on these vehicles may be missing valve block ball plugs, potentially causing a brake fluid leak or air ingestion during electronic brake distribution and/or ABS activation.
Risk: A brake fluid leak or air ingestion can lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Newmar will notify owners, and Ford or Lincoln dealers will inspect the HECU for missing valve block ball plugs, replacing the unit as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on January 24, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar's number for this recall is 17V-768.

These vehicles may have a loose power connection at the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), possibly resulting in a build up of heat.
Risk: The build up of heat in the wiring from the loose power connection can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy: Newmar will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the electrical connection at the ATS, tightening it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on February 5, 2018. Owners may contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300.
