Transport Canada recalls

03
  • Powertrain#2017554

    1,009 units affected

On certain vehicles equipped with the Distronic Plus radar brake assist, the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) software may malfunction. This could result in increased brake force application being required, which could increase stopping distances and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update the ESP control unit with new software.

  • Steering#2017203

    954 units affected

On certain vehicles, the splines of the steering coupling interlock could excessively wear due to insufficient tightening torque of the steering coupling. This could cause the connection between the coupling and shaft to be compromised, which could result in a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the steering coupling.

  • Structure#2017144

    2 units affected

On certain vehicles, the Bowden cables between the inner door handles and door locks may be defective. If the vehicle is involved in a crash, the force required to open the door locks might be increased, causing the Bowden cables to break when using the inside handles to unlock the doors. If this occurs, it would be impossible to unlock and open the doors using the inside handles making it difficult for the occupants to exit the vehicle, which would increase the risk of injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the Bowden cables on all four doors.
