  Issue: On certain vehicles, moisture could enter the driver-side door lock microswitch and cause it to corrode. As a result, the microswitch may fail to automatically engage the parking brake and/or the auto park feature when the door is opened. If this happens, the vehicle could roll away. Note: This problem could also cause the radio and/or interior lights to remain on after exiting the vehicle. Safety Risk: A parked vehicle that rolls away could create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Mercedes-Benz recommends that you should always use the parking brake when you park. Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the driver-side door lock.

  Issue: On one vehicle, the front passenger seat belt buckle may become blocked after the automatic locking retractor (ALR) is used. As a result, the front passenger may not be able to use the seat belt. Safety Risk: Not wearing your seat belt can increase the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: In the interim, if this problem happens, to reduce the safety risk, Mercedes-Benz advises that you can move the front passenger seat to the rearmost position to unblock the seat belt buckle until the recall repairs are completed. Mercedes-Benz will notify the owner by mail and advise them to take their vehicle to a dealership to replace the front passenger seat belt.

  Issue: On certain vehicles, the pyro fuse housing may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the pyro fuse could loosen and cause damage to the electrical wiring. If this happens, there could be a loss of power to the wheels. Additionally, the pyro fuse may not work during a crash or part of the fuse could detach and be propelled towards the driver's feet. UPDATE - After Mercedes-Benz notified Transport Canada about this problem, they determined that there are no Canadian vehicles affected by it. Accordingly, this safety recall was withdrawn. Over time, the panel could loosen and separate from the vehicle. Note: This is an expansion of Transport Canada recall 2021-170. Safety Risk: A panel that detaches from a moving vehicle could create a road hazard for others and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the front roof panel.

Note: If the hazard lights are switched off, then the ignition is cycled to off - and back on again - the switch lights should work properly. Safety Risk: While there is a low risk to safety, lighting of important switches is required by Canadian regulations. Unintended airbag deployment, in a non-warranted (non-impact) situation, could startle the driver, which could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. In some instances, inadvertent deployment could cause minor injuries to vehicle occupants. Correction: Dealers will add sufficient grounding to the steering components. Note: A broken clock spring would result in a driver airbag warning message appearing in the instrument cluster, as well as a red airbag warning lamp illuminating.

In the event the starter is blocked, a very high electric current could flow through the starting current limiter during repeated engine starting attempts. Correction : Dealers will install an additional fuse in the electrical line to the starter.

  On certain vehicles, fuses in the passenger side interior fuse box might have been installed incorrectly during assembly. This could result in one or more fuses losing electrical contact, which could affect different system functions, such as front passenger seat occupancy recognition, passenger side airbag indicator lamp, the instrument cluster and the windshield wipers. Should the front passenger seat occupancy recognition system be disabled, and the passenger side airbag indicator lamp be affected, there would be no visual warning that the passenger frontal airbag is not operating correctly. Failure of the passenger frontal airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Also, instrument cluster and windshield wiper malfunction could increase the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect the installation position and orientation of the fuses in the passenger side interior fuse box, and replace the fuse box if necessary.
