Issue: On certain trailers, the rear impact guard may not have been welded properly to the frame. As a result, the rear impact guard may not work properly in a crash. Safety Risk: A rear impact guard that doesn't work properly could cause a vehicle to underride the trailer and increase the risk of injuries. Corrective Actions: Lode King will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to inspect and, if necessary, weld the rear impact guard to the frame. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the inspection and repairs performed at a Lode King dealership.

Issue: On certain SDE and SDF step-deck semi-trailers, the cargo securement winch located on the rear of the trailer may not be properly welded. As a result, the cargo winch mount could fail and allow cargo to come loose. Note: This recall only affects trailers equipped with a beavertail style ramp. Safety Risk: Cargo that comes loose or falls from the trailer could create a risk of injury and create a road hazard for others. Corrective Actions: Lode King will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealership to add a weld on the rear cargo winch.

Safety Risk: A sudden loss of service brakes or the self-application of the emergency brakes while driving could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Lode King will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer to replace the check valve on the air tank.

If this happens, the structure of the trailer could fail. Safety Risk: A structural failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Lode King will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer to replace the incorrect load rating label.

Note: This recall only affects trailers equipped with 8' long loading ramps inset to the floor behind the drop section. Safety Risk: Cargo that comes loose or falls from the trailer could create a risk of injury and create a road hazard for others. Corrective Actions: Lode King will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your trailer to a dealer for an inspection. The cargo winches will be replaced as necessary.

Issue: On certain tridem axle trailers, the parking brake may be slower to apply than what is allowed by Canadian regulations. Additionally, the service brakes on some trailers with a 72” axle spread may release more slowly than what is allowed by the regulations. Safety Risk: Delayed parking brake application could result in unintended vehicle movement. Delayed release of the service brakes could affect brake performance and vehicle stability. Either could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Lode King will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their trailer to a dealer for an inspection of the air brake system. If the trailer is not fitted with a quick release valve for the parking brake, one will be added near the rear of the trailer. Additionally, trailers with a 72" axle spread will have a quick release gladhand valve added to the service brake line at the front of the trailer.
