    Issue: On certain school buses, the malfunction indicator for the electronic stability control (ESC) system may not turn on even if there's a problem with the ESC system. Safety Risk: A driver that isn't aware of a problem with the ESC system could have an increased risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: LION will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your school bus to a LION authorized service center to update the vehicle control unit.

    Issue: On certain school buses, the control panel for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the wiring could overheat. Safety Risk: Wiring that overheats could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, LION advises you to follow the latest version of the inspection procedure available on their website and not to use your school bus if there's any issues with the HVAC system. LION will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to correct the wiring for the HVAC system. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the repairs done at an authorized LION service center.

    Issue: On certain school buses, the CAN bus connector for the high-voltage battery may not have been installed properly. As a result, water could enter the connector and cause a short circuit. This could cause a sudden loss of power while driving, including a loss of power steering assist and reduced braking. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of power could increase the risk of a crash. A loss of power steering assist can cause a sudden increase in steering effort, and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, reduced braking can cause an extended stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Lion Électrique will advise owners by mail and provide you with precautions that may be taken to reduce the safety risks. Lion will also arrange for a service team to reinstall or replace the connector, as necessary.

    Issue: On certain school buses, the parking brake lever could be released without pushing the release button. As a result, the bus could move unexpectedly. Note: This recall only affects certain school buses equipped with a parking brake lever manufactured by Orscheln. Safety Risk: A parked vehicle that moves suddenly could create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: Lion Électrique will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to inspect the parking brake lever. Lion will also arrange for a service team to replace the parking brake lever, as necessary.

    Issue: On certain school buses, the antilock braking system (ABS) valves and rear wheel speed sensors may not have been connected correctly. As a result, the vehicle could become unstable and a rear wheel could lock up, if the ABS is activated. Safety Risk: A rear wheel that locks up suddenly could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Lion Électrique will advise owners by mail and provide you with precautions that may be taken to reduce the safety risks. Lion will also contact owners and arrange for a service team to inspect and connect the ABS valves and rear wheel speed sensors correctly.

If this happens, the loose hardware could cause a short circuit. This could cause a sudden loss of power while driving, including a loss of power steering assist and reduced braking. Safety Risk: A sudden loss of power could increase the risk of a crash. A loss of power steering assist can cause a sudden increase in steering effort, and increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, reduced braking can cause an extended stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Lion Électrique will advise owners by mail and provide you with precautions that may be taken to reduce the safety risks. Lion will also contact owners and arrange for a service team to replace the hardware inside the high-voltage distribution unit and DC junction box.

If this happens, there could be a sudden loss of power while driving, including a loss of power steering assist and reduced braking. Additionally, reduced braking can cause an extended stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Lion Électrique will advise owners by mail and provide you with precautions that may be taken to reduce the safety risks. Lion will also contact owners and arrange for a service team to replace the surge tank support. The high-voltage cables will be inspected for damage, and replaced if necessary.

As a result, you may not be able to see the warning lamp when there is a problem with the ESC system. Safety Risk: Warnings and tell-tales that do not display properly could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Lion Électrique will notify owners by mail and provide you with the parts and instructions for how to replace the ESC tell-tale lamp. Alternatively, Lion Électrique will send a team to replace the ESC tell-tale lamp.

    Issue: On certain school buses, the parking brake may not be adjusted correctly. As a result, the vehicle could roll when the parking brake is set. Safety Risk: A parked vehicle that moves suddenly could increase the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: Lion Electric will notify owners by mail and schedule an appointment to make adjustments to the parking brake.
