Transport Canada recalls

04
  • Electrical#2025528

    1,951 units affected

Issue: On certain school buses, the control panel for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the wiring could overheat. Safety Risk: Wiring that overheats could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, LION advises you to follow the latest version of the inspection procedure available on their website and not to use your school bus if there's any issues with the HVAC system. LION will notify owners by mail and provide you with instructions for how to correct the wiring for the HVAC system. Alternatively, you may schedule an appointment to have the repairs done at an authorized LION service center.

  • Brakes#2020004

    60 units affected

Issue: On some electric school buses, a lack of pressure from the hydraulic pump could cause a loss of power assist to the braking and steering systems. This would cause reduced braking performance and increased steering effort. Safety Risk: Loss of steering assist could result in a sudden increase in steering effort, especially at low speeds. Reduced braking performance could cause extended stopping distances. Both of these conditions can increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The Lion Electric Company will notify the owners by mail. In addition, they will contact you by telephone to schedule an appointment for a Lion technician to change the hydraulic system pressure valve.

  • Brakes#2019245

    15 units affected

Issue: The auxiliary pump for the hydraulic brake system may lose power due to a manufacturing defect in its connector. In the event of a primary pump failure, the auxiliary pump would not turn on. This could cause a loss of braking. Safety Risk: A loss of braking could result in a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and send a technician to replace the wiring harness for the auxiliary brake pump.

  • Seats And Restraints#2019216

    430 units affected

Issue: Certain school bus seats may not have the lower universal anchorage system required for installing a child seat. Safety Risk: A child seat that is not properly installed could create an increased risk of injury in a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail. Owners will be sent the missing anchorage parts and instructions for their installation.
