    Issue: On certain trailers, the floor supports under the horse area could break. This could allow the supports to detach and contact the axles or suspension. Safety Risk: Trailer floor supports that detach could affect vehicle handling and stability, increasing the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their trailer to a dealership to have the aluminum floor support beams inspected and replaced as necessary. An additional structure will also be added.

U.S. NHTSA recalls

  • SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY#19V437000

    Lakota Corporation (Lakota) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Colt 6-foot 9-inch wide horse trailers. The aluminum axle carrier may be too weak to and begin to tear.

    Risk: If the carrier begins to tear, the stability of the trailer may be affected, increasing the risk of crash.

    Remedy: Lakota will notify owners, and dealers will add additional aluminum structure to reinforce the trailers, free of charge. The recall began July 25, 2019. Owners may contact Lakota customer service at 1-574-848-1636.
