On certain vehicles equipped with Kidde fire extinguishers with black plastic handles and valves, the fire extinguishers may become clogged or require excessive force to activate. Also, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury, and fail to discharge. In case of fire, failure of the extinguisher to function could result in injury and/or property damage. Correction: Owners will be provided with instructions on how to inspect the fire extinguisher to see if it is recalled. Replacement fire extinguishers will be supplied by Kidde directly. On certain travel trailers, the 120 volt light on the ceiling of the slide room was installed using incorrect wire connectors. These connectors could cause a loose electrical connection, which could result in a vehicle fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the wire connectors with the appropriate type.

Keystone RV Company (Keystone) is recalling various 2003-2018 Crossroads, Dutchmen, and Keystone recreational trailers equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V755-5127.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. Risk: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy: Keystone will notify owners and instruct them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. KEYSTONE IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2012 RESIDENCE TRAVEL TRAILERS PRODUCED FROM MAY 6, 2011, THROUGH MAY 18, 2011. THE WIRING CONNECTION TO THE 120 VOLT LIGHT ON THE CEILING OF THE SLIDE ROOM HAS THE INCORRECT WIRING CONNECTORS.
Risk: THE INCORRECT WIRING CONNECTORS COULD CAUSE A LOOSE ELECTRICAL CONNECTION LEADING TO AN INCREASED RISK OF FIRE, PROPERTY DAMAGE AND/OR PERSONAL INJURY.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE INCORRECT CONNECTORS (CRIMP STYLE BELL CAPS) WITH TWIST ON WIRE NUTS. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JUNE 20, 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KEYSTONE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 1-866-425-4369.
