  • Powertrain#2024362

    137 units affected

Issue: On certain vehicles, the driveshaft may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the driveshaft could break and cause a loss of power to the wheels. Additionally, if the vehicle is parked and the parking brake isn't applied, the vehicle could roll away. Note: This recall only affects two-wheel-drive (2WD) models. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the wheels could increase the risk of a crash. A parked vehicle that rolls away could also create the risk of an injury or a crash. Corrective Actions: Nissan will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the driveshaft.

  • Steering#2016296

    3,804 units affected

On certain vehicles, a combination of low battery voltage at engine start up (~7 volts) and the vehicle being parked with the wheels turned could cause an error in the Direct Adaptive Steering ECU. This could cause the steering wheel to be off centered and the VDC warning lamp to illuminate. If operated this way, this could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update the Direct Adaptive Steering ECU.

  • Seats And Restraints#2016179

    257,130 units affected

On certain vehicles, a defect in the occupant classification system could allow an adult sitting in the front passenger seat to be classified as a child or an “empty seat”. This would suppress the airbag, which could increase the risk of injury in a crash. Correction: For affected Altima, Maxima, Murano, Rogue and Sentra vehicles, dealers will reprogram the airbag control unit and the occupant classification system control unit. For affected Leaf, NV200, Pathfinder, Q50 and JX35/QX60 vehicles, dealers will replace the occupant classification system electronic control unit.

  • Airbag#2016123

    442 units affected

On certain vehicles, the front passenger seat occupant classification system software may incorrectly classify the passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult. If this occurs, the passenger airbag would be deactivated without the illumination of the airbag warning lamp. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the occupant classification system. This is an expansion of recall 2014-093.

  • Powertrain#2014416

    73 units affected

On certain hybrid vehicles, the transmission housing may have been damaged during manufacturing. This could allow a crack in the housing to form, and could eventually result in a transmission housing fracture, which would result in debris being spread onto the roadway, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the transmission assembly if cracks are found during inspection.

  • Powertrain#2014415

    511 units affected

On certain hybrid vehicles, a defect in engine control module programming could cause a gradual throttle increase without driver input, which could cause vehicle speed to increase. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update vehicle software. Note: Applying the brake would allow the vehicle to be slowed or stopped.

  • Powertrain#2014414

    419 units affected

On certain hybrid models, an error in communication between the electric motor inverter and the transmission control module could cause the electric motor to stop functioning when the vehicle is operated in electric-only mode, causing a loss of motive power and illuminating the warning lamp. This could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will update vehicle software.

  • Airbag#2014093

    60,022 units affected

On certain vehicles, the front passenger seat occupant classification system software may incorrectly classify the passenger seat as empty, when it is occupied by an adult. If this occurs, the passenger airbag would be deactivated without the illumination of the airbag warning lamp. Failure of the passenger airbag to deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the occupant classification system.

  • Steering#2013410

    3 units affected

On certain vehicles equipped with Direct Adaptive Steering (steer-by-wire), cold weather operation could cause the system to malfunction on startup, and delay the engagement of the mechanical backup system. This would result in a loss of steering, which would increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will reprogram the Direct Adaptive Steering module.
